  1. I am with you all the way on this one.
  2. No doubt that starters don't go as deep as they used to. However, our starters were supposed to be a strength of this team and were supposed to be able to get deeper into games than they have been getting. The starters not getting the job done most definitely has an impact on how effective the pen can be.
  3. ERod has been doing a better job this season. Still, as a whole, the rotation is not pitching as many innings as they were expected to pitch. I posted a stat a few days ago that show they had pitched about 50 fewer innings this season to date than they did last season. That's a problem.
  4. It sounds as though Dombrowski's focus is on acquiring that 5th starter rather than a pen arm.
  5. I don't disagree, but the idea of building a pen this way is to keep throwing the crap against the wall until something sticks. Sooner or later, something will.
  6. Good news for Carrasco. Thanks for sharing this information.
  7. I have to almost 100% disagree with this post.
  8. You and I are on the same page on this one.
  9. Tanner Houck has also been moved to the pen, in hopes that he will be able to help out the team down the stretch.
  10. Unless you go game by game through the game logs, which I'm not going to do, it's difficult to know exactly how the pen usage is broken down in some of these stats. I noticed that Fangraphs had German and his 70 something innings listed under both starter and reliever stats.
  11. In a very small sample, Marco has made it very difficult for anyone not to like him. He's had a tough time with injuries. It would be nice to see him be able to stick and contribute to the team.
  12. The pen is not fine. My question to you is, would the pen be better if the starters were performing up to their expectations, including Eovaldi and Price not being on the IL?
  13. {Raises her hand proudly and excitedly} Not only for baseball, but because I also teach Geometry.
  14. Preach Brother Slasher!
  15. One of the biggest issues with our starters is failing to get deeper into games. So while their performances may be 'fine', they are taxing the bullpen, which didn't have much depth to begin with. The pen might be the glaring weakness, but only because the starters, on the whole, have failed to do their part.
  16. The offense seems to have finally hit its stride. If the 4 starters could consistently pitch to their abilities, and we can solidify the 5th rotation spot, we're as good as any team out there. FTR, Pythagoras says the forever lucky Yankees should be 54-34 and the Red Sox should be 50-40. The Yankees have not been outplaying us by as much as it feels like they have.
  17. It wasn't always pretty, but we'll take the sweep anyway we can get it. It's great to go into the break on a high note. The Dodgers will be out for blood in our next series. Hopefully, the Sox will be up to the challenge. Now the question is, what to do for the next 4 days with no baseball.
  18. It doesn't matter to me. I was pulling for the Rays to win every game that series. Or more like I was pulling for the Yankees to lose.
  19. LOL Auto correct? I was reading that Miggy has been doing this quite often this year. Frustration seems to have set in.
  20. I don't agree with the talk about Boone for MOY. IMO, he is clearly still a doofus.
  21. I am not one to criticize Cora a lot, and I certainly understand resting players, but I still don't understand the why he insists on resting 2-3 regular starters the same game. The other day, he rested Bogaerts and JD the same game. We won the game, but still. It seems like he could spread out the rest days so that no more than one starter sits in any particular game.
  22. 100% agree.
  23. Fair point. However, the Yankees' bullpen was built to be their strength, to pick up a mediocre rotation. With the Sox, it's the other way around. The Sox bullpen is worn out, and there is not enough depth to it.
  24. We do agree on quite a bit, with analytics seeming to be our sticking point.
