  1. I have always appreciated your positive insight Kman. I think our offense will be fine without Mookie. Our starting pitching is the concern for this year, but you make a good point that Sale, Price, and Porcello were not that great last year, so we shouldn't miss them that much. The shortened season works in our favor as far as the starting rotation goes. We got this!
  2. That's a good question. I have no idea how this is going to work out.
  3. That could still happen. As much as I want baseball to return, safety comes first. MLB officials seem to think they have the proper protocols in place, though I'm not sure how well some of the rules will be followed.
  4. The difference is not so much in the personnel, but in the fact that there are so fewer games. A lot of games, not just for the Sox, but for all teams, will be bullpen or opener games.
  5. IMO, the starting rotation becomes less important in this sprint of a season. That gives the Sox an advantage that they wouldn't have had in a long season. I think Tampa Bay is going to really benefit from the reduced number of games. Their pitching should be very good. They are my current pick for the AL East.
  6. The shorter the season, the more randomness kicks in. IMO, the Yankees are not as big a shoo in for the playoffs as most people are predicting. The Yankees are going down!
  7. I wouldn't be surprised. With such a small number of games, the difference between .500 (30 wins) and .600 (36 wins) is only 6 wins. In a regular season, .500 almost never makes the playoffs while .600 almost always does. But this year, two really good or bad series could make the difference. It will be interesting, for sure.
  8. Make that three of us.
  9. LOL. It might be banal, but unfortunately, it's a necessary evil.
  10. Last I heard, they were going with a regular playoff format. Ten teams, 3 division winners and 2 wildcards from each league. They are still considering expanded playoffs though.
  11. Dang, not one person chose 66 or less. So, in a 60 game season, how many wins will it take to make the playoffs? I am going to go with an early prediction that the Sox squeak in with 33 wins. I am basing that off of mostly nothing, just my opinion.
  12. It's interesting that several teams are talking about allowing fans into the games later in the season, the Rangers being one of those teams. This will be a city based decision, not an MLB decision.
  13. In a 60 game season, anything can happen. It gives all of the teams a more equal chance of getting into the playoffs. I think Tampa will be good also, and I don't think the Yankees are going to dominate like most people seem to be projecting. The good news is, if the Yankees do win it all, we can always attach the * of a pandemic shortened season to it. LOL IMO, the shortened season benefits the Sox as far as pitching goes. Our bullpen should be pretty good.
  14. The proposed schedule if for the Sox to play 10 games against each of its AL East opponents, with the remaining 20 games being played against the 5 teams in the NL East. Per BR, based on 2019's 60 game streaks, the Sox would have a 30.1% chance of making the playoffs. The Yankees and Braves both have a 100% chance. Tampa Bay is at 35.9% and the Os and Blue Jays are both at 0%. LOL
  15. That makes sense. IMO, the players should be required to self quarantine throughout the season.
  16. In the meantime, more and more players and staff members are testing positive for the virus. Will the season be derailed before it even gets started? Since the players are not being quarantined, they are going to have to police themselves. Can they do that?
  17. The Sox are not going to have an easy ride either, but the shortened season does play in their favor.
  18. I just read that this does not apply to Yankees and Mets players who will be returning to New York this week after being in Florida. It's still a month before the season is supposed to start, but I'm guessing that Cuomo will make a similar type exception to players on other teams that this applies to.
  19. According to Speier, if the season is not completed, the tax situations revert back to 2019 status. So no, the Sox cannot reset if one game is played.
  20. Haha. Well played.
  21. Sounds good to me. I'd be very surprised if at least 4 of the guys aren't relievers.
  22. I was thinking something similar, in terms of at least 4 of the players being relievers.
  23. Teams can have 30 players on the roster to start the season. I'm not sure that I can remember 30 players! LOL Who will be the extra 5 players?
  24. Oh geez. Instant replay, robot umps, runner on 2B. When will it stop???
