  1. LOL Good point.
  2. I agree that the season will be highly unpredictable. Even if all teams stayed healthy, the shortened season makes things rather unpredictable. Throw in the the players who get injured, those that test positive, and those that opt out, and it's anybody's game. Except for the Os.
  3. I agree. I am not alarmed by the initial 1.2% positive rate. It's how the league and the players handle themselves from this point forward.
  4. I was thinking the same thing.
  5. Also, Pete Abraham thinks that the Sox would have been on the hook for David's prorated salary this season.
  6. I thought playing in a bubble made a lot of sense. If the players can just behave themselves. Somebody needs to police them if they can't police themselves.
  7. Sounds good to me!
  8. Red Sox Sign RHP Caleb Simpson By George Miller | July 4, 2020 at 3:12pm CDT The Red Sox have signed right-handed reliever Caleb Simpson and added him to their 60-man player pool, according to Ian Browne of MLB.com. His addition comes not long after the Red Sox revealed that two relievers, Darwinzon Hernandez and Josh Taylor, have tested positive for COVID-19. Simpson, 28, had spent his entire career in the Giants’ minor-league system before earning a chance with the Cubs as a non-roster invite during this year’s Spring Training.
  9. Darwinzon Hernandez and Josh Taylor are the two Sox players who have tested positive. Eduardo Rodriguez was exposed to the virus and is still awaiting test results.
  10. David Price has opted out of the season.
  11. Indeed!
  12. Beni also appears to have lost some of the muscle that he put on last year. I think that will work to his advantage. I am always pulling for JBJ. I think he's the player I've pulled the hardest for since he's been on the team. I hope he has a great season offensively. I am also optimistic about Verdugo. Warranted or not, he will have a lot of pressure on his shoulders to at least somewhat help us forget about Mookie.
  13. Ha. I like what you did here.
  14. There are 38 positive tests out of 3185 tests given in MLB. That's a 1.2% positive rate. There are some Red Sox positive tests among those.
  15. Big news out of spring training today: Bill Koch @BillKoch25 · 6m Also -- Benintendi is back to full Flow Bros status. Those locks are simply luscious. @BrockStar4Lyf would be pleased. #RedSox Expect Beni to rake this season.
  16. Fair enough. I got the impression that he was talking about about some of the big spending teams choosing to go a different route this offseason.
  17. Red Sox Stats @redsoxstats · 8h On @Starting9 Boras mentions the possibility of "a whole host of teams" not competing in free agency this winter. Also talks of the advantage of teams that have built ancillary income streams that could load up and control the talent over the next 3-4 years. It sounds like many teams will be focusing on locking up their young players rather than spending money on free agents.
  18. Some great home run moments mentioned by all. If we're going with the title of the thread being the "Most Important" home run, I would have to say it has to be one from the 2004 ALCS. I would choose Papi's walk off in Game 4. That was the home run that changed the course of history.
  19. I haven't heard anything about Rizzo. Lester made some type of comment about getting ready for the season a couple of days ago, which led to me to believe that he has every intention of playing.
  20. Tampa's pitching is insane. They are my favorites to take the AL East.
  21. Players from other teams who have opted out so far: Ryan Zimmerman, Joe Ross, Mike Leake, Ian Desmond
  22. He is expected to be added to the list. Right now it's just some kind of contract restructuring formality.
  23. Per Roenicke, the Sox starters are built up to 3-4 innings already.
  24. As of now, the Red Sox do not anticipate having any players opting out.
