  1. Well it's finally over..or just about. They beat out the Bobby Valentine team with 71 wins, and this is with one game to go.
  2. Wow a walk off hit in a meaningless September game. Congrats Captain! Of course this whole weekend series is meaningless, although it was quite a way end his Yankee Stadium career. Sounds like he will not play SS, just DH this weekend.
  3. Cecchini in at 3b tonight, Webster vs Gausman M Betts 2B X Bogaerts SS D Ortiz DH Y Cespedes LF D Nava RF A Craig 1B R Castillo CF G Cecchini 3B C Vazquez C A De Aza LF D Lough CF S Pearce RF N Cruz DH J Paredes 3B C Walker 1B R Flaherty SS C Joseph C J Schoop 2B
  4. I'd love to see Cecchini in for WMB.
  5. Other calls ups - The Boston Red Sox today recalled six players from Triple-A Pawtucket: outfielders Bryce Brentz (No. 73) and Rusney Castillo (No. 38), infielder/outfielder Garin Cecchini (No. 70), left-handed pitcher Edwin Escobar (No. 71), right-handed pitcher Heath Hembree (No. 37), and catcher/first baseman Ryan Lavarnway (No. 20). All six players will be active for tonight's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
  6. It's Rusney - Day!
  7. Rusney Castillo will be in the lineup tomorrow night. Unless the PawSox are postponed, they are in a rain delay now. Castillo hit a solo shot in the 1st, but the PawSox trail 2-1, it's NBC Sports Network
  8. The Pirates have a good lineup and PNC seems like a great place to watch baseball.
  9. The Pirates have the 2nd NL Wild Card spot and trail the Cardinals by 3.5 for the NL Central division. Pitching matchup Ranaudo (3-2) vs Morton (5-12
  10. It's Alex Wilson and Dan Butler!
  11. Two players from the last PawSox postseason championship run in 2012 are now in Boston - name them
  12. The PawSox won the Governor's Cup, losing Game 3 but rallying back to take the title by winning Games 4 (in 13 innings) and 5. Pawtucket will now play Omaha Tuesday night in Charlotte, NC for the Triple A championship. This game will be shown on the NBC Sports Network.
  13. Yes nice to see Lavarnway still kicking around in the minors, and great season for the PawSox
  14. The PawSox won Game 1, but lost Game 2 of the Governor's Cup Series, splitting the first 2 home games. They are off to Durham for Games 3-5. Last night was a tough loss. The PawSox gave up a 3-2 lead in the 9th with a game tying HR off closer Heath Hembree and then went on to lose 4-3 in 11 innings. Owens pitches tonight.
  15. 16 games remain and the Sox are at 63-83. Can they get to 70 wins, meaning going 7-9 over the last couple of weeks? I doubt it. For comparison, the 2012 team ended up 69-93.
  16. Red Sox Betts CF Nava RF Ortiz DH Cespedes LF Napoli 1B Bogaerts SS Middlebrooks 3B Weeks 2B Vazquez C Ranaudo P Baltimore Markakis RF De Aza LF Jones CF Cruz DH Davis 3B Pearce 1B Hundley C Flaherty SS Schoop 2B Tillman P
  17. Castillo will be with Pawtucket for the first two home games of the Governor's Cup series vs. Durham. The games are tonight and Wednesday 9/10.
  18. Anyway it is rare to develop 3 superstars. Perhaps you will hit the jackpot with one, and a few others may be decent major league players. Right now Betts and DeLaRosa seem to be the best of the bunch. If Jackie Bradley Jr could only hit a little! I think WMB is done and the jury is still out on Bogaerts
  19. I have tickets to tomorrow's game. I'd have to sell them at a loss, so I guess I'm going. This is as bad as late 2012 as far as interest in the games.
  20. Rusney Castillo is playing in Maine for Portland's playoff game tonight (Friday 9/5)
  21. Pawtucket is up 2 games to 0 on Syracuse after the first two home games at McCoy Stadium. Tonight they play in Syracuse with Henry Owens on the mound. From MILB.com: Matt Barnes dominated Syracuse, allowing just three hits over seven scoreless innings in Triple-A Pawtucket's 8-2 win. He struck out six and didn't issue a walk. The victory gave the Red Sox a 2-0 lead in their semifinal series against the Chiefs. Jackie Bradley Jr made a nice catch to end the 8th, with the bases loaded for SYR. Meanwhile Portland is tied up 1-1 against Binghamton. From MILB.com Stefan Welch homered twice, Sean Coyle went deep for the second straight game and cleanup hitter Keury De La Cruz added an insurance shot as Double-A Portland evened its Eastern League Eastern Division series with a 7-0 win at Binghamton.
  22. The Pawtucket Red Sox clinched a Wild Card playoff spot late Saturday night after a 2 1/2 hour rain delay. They lost their regular season home finale this afternoon, on Labor Day. The PawSox will open the playoffs at home Wednesday September 3 in Pawtucket against Syracuse (Washington). The other IL playoff series is Durham (TB) vs Columbus (CLE). The winners face off for the IL Governor's Cup, then that winner plays the Pacific Coast League Champion in the Triple A title game. By the way if you look at MILB.com, the Gulf Coast League Single A Red Sox beat their Yankees counterparts for the GCL Championship!
  23. IL Pitcher of the Year Anthony Ranaudo (2-0 4.50) vs Archer (8-6 3.09)
  24. Or get on Survivor with John Rocker? Hmm has he been juicing?? Speaking of Rocker, here is a great piece by Jeff Pearlman, the writer who revealed the real Rocker.
  25. I think JBJ will be in Triple A, WMB will be gone.
