  1. Please let me be wrong on Trevor Story. Please let me be wrong on Trevor Story. Please let me be wrong on Trevor Story.
  2. The issue with the Yankees is their unbalanced roster. If Judge has a bad night, as he tends to do in October and against us it seems, they are very beatable.
  3. I watched the Yankees telecast of that game. The despair in their tone as they admitted the Yankees are getting their asses kicked was priceless. God they are playing just such terrible baseball all over the field.
  4. That was my point. Why throw him out against a really good pitcher in his first game, a big game on the road against your rival?
  5. Not sure I was a fan of putting him in the 5 hole in a big game against a tough pitcher at Yankee Stadium for his first game. He looked lost on those curveballs.
  6. 22-12 over the last 3 seasons. They are our bitch. I'm most excited at the performances of Bello. He is finally realizing all this talent which has tantalized us for several seasons. Man the Yankees just play such sloppy defense, their lineup is not deep at all. But Duran got his footwork screwed up and despite what the announcer claimed that play was close when it didn't have to be. We have had a lot of great closers over the years. But I don't remember any of them being as dominant as Chapman has been this season.
  7. While this is probably true why have I seen them try, and fail, so many times this season? Bunting in certain situations such as the scenarios above. So it's still important and should be worked on even if just a bit more than now. .
  8. The inability to bunt is ridiculous and it's been this way for years throughout baseball. I have no idea why they don't work on it more today.
  9. As the game was slipping away I was actually hoping they would continue to pile on runs against Hicks so Cora will bury him where he belongs, at the end of the bullpen rotation.
  10. I really like this move and surprised there was not more discussion about it. I am ready for a real firstbaseman. I've seen far too many tough plays simply not made by our 1st baseman this year. So many throwing errors could have been avoided if we simply had a legit 1st baseman capable of picking some of those errant throws. Hopefully his stick returns to a decent level.
  11. I do not believe it is a requirement to have played haseball above the high school level to know that you are wrong. Mookie came up as an infielder, was switched to the outfield and became one of the best 2 baseabll players in the world.
  12. I think it's a reach to blame Cora and the position changes for Campbell's inability to put the bat on the ball after the hot start.
  13. I like where they are. They just got through a brutal part of the schedule post ASB and their record reflected that in those games. Now the schedule is so much easier and they have a great shot at post season, it's fun watching meaningful games for once. It's important that the young players get post game experience. I mean just look at what it did for the the Baltimore Orioles..... .
  14. That was a scary game, they could not lose to the Florida Marlins and continue the slide. Just put Rafaela in center field and find a damned 2nd baseman already so they can put Gonzales at first and sit Toro. I backed up that deep fly ball play where he tracked it down like a deer. He gets such a fast jump, his first step is amazing and by the time the camera is following the ball he is already at full speed. I'm still not sold on Story, I'd love to see his LOB stats to go with the RBIs because he sure seems to come up a lot with men in scoring position. But his defensive has been solid and of course he is 21 for 21. The entire team seems to get great jumps when they steal bases, I love how this team runs the bases and puts pressure on the defense.
  15. The Red Sox lead the majors with 19 games of 10 runs or more. The average appears to be 8.5 or so games (I couldn't find a league average but teams tied at #13 have 9 games and teams at 15 have 8). So that is 10+ games where they scored a lot of garbage time runs and that skews the stats. And I absolutely believe Romy should always play 1st base, I'm so done with Toro.
  16. Trading Duran scares the crap out of me. He is that rare player who can take over a game. Like Abreu obviously but he seems to be the more likely candidate.
  17. Oh there is no queston the Sox have improved and the Giants have regressed since the trade, and that is satisfying for sure. But I'm not looking at the trade for these recent few months, I'm thinking more along the lines of the next several years. And losing a bat like Rafael Devers will eventually hurt us and again we got nothing in return.
  18. If he blows up I can see a Scotty Pippen situation in a few years.
  19. It's a big gamble for sure, what if Campbell never develops as an example. But I love the balls of making moves like this and have to believe most of these deals will pay off for them. Interesting they have not made this type of move with Mayer. I still believe we have a long way to go before i feel comforable believing he will be a top player.
  20. What a great move. Of all the long term deals for young players you have to like this one the best as he just has so much more upside. Sure it's a gamble but one worth the risk.
  21. As I have posted before I often tune in the opposing team broadcast because they talk baseball as the NESN spends an entire half of an inning interviewing someone from some charity. Last night was great, those woman acually talked baseball.
  22. Yeah I grew up in the DC burbs, now live an hour north. When I was young the Redskins stunk, as did the Senators. I got on the Red Sox because I was born in Boston and it was 1967. I didn't become a Redskins fan, it was the Colts at first, until George Allen arrived and instantly made them winners. For decades the streets around DC were barren during the game, they really took over the city until Snyder ruined it. Not getting into the name thing, been there done that. I call them the Commanders because that's their name.now, just as I call them the Wizards and not the Bullets. .
  23. Other Commanders fans here? I didn't expect that. 8 in a row, man this is some fun. But we are getting breaks. Bobby Witt should have made that play, the 2nd baseman should have let the RF take that pop up. But they are also putting the ball in play, pitching well and winning a lot of games on their own.
  24. Probably a first for me. But I love his aggressiveness and we get far more extra runs and bases than we surrender. I'm still getting used to having a fast team who likes to run even though it's been the case here for several years.
