  1. Maybe one day the terms of such an offer will come to light. Either way Meyers is a stud and no one is happier than Longoria on how things turned out.
  2. Thank You Palodios. So it is possible that KC approached Boston
  3. Not quite ... Apples to Apples really ... pitching is half mental and some say more than half.
  4. More speculation. I guess we will never know because I doubt that anyone in the Sox organization will admit that they passed on such an offer if there was one.
  5. That's exactly what people said about Lackey. The Air Bud Soccer Movie was pretty good too!
  6. I believe the same as Shields but do not take my word for it. That is why you hold on to Meyers. The only way you make the deal for Shields or Lester is if they had signed 4 year extensions.
  7. Are you using this years numbers or numbers for 2011 & 2012? How about you take Lesters 2010 season. To me it appears that KC approached Boston but I could be wrong ... and I could be right.
  8. Everything is speculation until the paperwork is signed ... but just maybe it was KC who approached Boston for Lester. Maybe just maybe the KC management thought they could turn Lester around, put him in a more friendly pitchers park, maybe just maybe the dopes who would trade Meyers were stupid enough to think that Lester was superior to Shields. All speculation for sure ... just remember that Shields at his best was never ever as good as Lester at his best. And Remember this .... when Lester is wearing another uni in 2015 Meyers will be crushing the ball for Tampa. We will get to watch him play 19 times a year.
  9. I would hate to be the manager that made that deal ... especially when Shields leaves KC in 2015 and Meyers is being announced at the All Star Game
  10. The team will never hit if they deal a controllable asset who happens to hit
  11. I am also a big fan of Air Bud. You must admit the scene with the lights exploding was pretty cool.
  12. You do realize that Shields becomes a free agent at the end of 2014.
  13. No way in hell would KC make this trade again. Are you crazy?
  14. Whatever you say ... Yeah I think that KC would have preferred Lester to Shields ... take a good look at the numbers. The remark about the batting glove or lack there of was made to correspond to Robert Redford in the Natural ... When you see Meyers at the plate and in the field he looks like a young Robert Redford. He looks like a natural ... that he was made to play baseball.
  15. I could not agree more. Time to bring the lad up.
  16. Late November 2012 there was great speculation that the Sox were going to deal Lester to KC for Minor League OF Prospect Wil Meyers. Meyers has made Baseball America's top 10 prospect list and had put up fantastic power numbers between AA and AAA in 2012. People weighed in on the deal and some were against it. Many were for it. The Sox had not attempted to extend Lester's present contract so the trade speculation seemed plausible. On December 9th the Tampa Bay Rays dealt SP James Shields and Wade Davis to KC for Wil Meyers and Jake Odorizzi. KC lost once again. I think that KC would have preferred Lester over Shields so did Boston say no to the deal? Meyers only 22 is tearing it up and had another 2 run shot last night and had a walk off single the game before that. Could you imagine the Sox having Meyers & Bogaerts going forward. Could have been our 3 and 4 hitter for the next 10 years. BTW ... this kid Meyers is like something out of the movie - The Natural ... he might be the only player in the majors that does not wear a batting glove ... unlike many players who now wear two. Any thoughts.
  17. Great call ... you can learn a lot from bad deals. Teixeira's number also include playing in the most friendly ballpark in all of baseball for a left handed hitter. I think 3/4's of Jeters HR's have been to right field. Any deal longer than 5 years gets significantly greater with each year added.
  18. Ellsbury has had a bad rap as being injury prone ... Beltre leveled the guy and busted up his ribs ... The Sox can up Ellsbury from $10M to $18M over 5 years no problem. Make the deal now! Put the deal out to Ellsbury today. Let him turn it down.
  19. SeanJohn speaks the truth!
  20. Not! Stanton is not better than Trout. Trout maybe the best everyday player in MLB right now. Of course Cabrera fans will beg to differ. Harper and Stanton are fairly comparable however. The Sox get in trouble when then make the big trade ... thinking Crawford ... Sox will be better served to compete for free agents and keep the studs they have in the minors. Pitching, Pitching, Pitching ... and resign Ellsbury!
  21. Things are looking good!
  22. This kid Meyers is the real deal. He had his first MLB walk off tonight. He could have been a ours if we gave up Lester. However, I think we did good to hold on to Lester. Pitching is at a premium and if Lackey can turn it around so can Lester.
  23. Nicely stated. Who came up with the idea of Bogaerts and 3 other prospects in the first place. Give Ben a little credit.
  24. The Sox are not in need of runs ... they are in need of pitching. I would much rather they spend their money on pitching. Back to the runs ... we have some good prospects that can help us in the power department as well. Next season the left side of our infield could possibly add 35 hrs. over this seasons production. Bogaerts and Middlebrooks. We have another player in AA at third that has power and if we want to make more contact we can pry Loney away from TB. Makes TB weaker and the Sox stronger.
  25. I agree ... the Crawford contract made no sense what-so-ever. Ben did good didn't he?
