  1. Farrell played Gomes because Victorino was injured. God works in mysterious ways. I told you Gomes would come through with a big hit.
  2. Drew looks lost at the plate but I have been enjoying is glove.
  3. I never want to hear another negative comment from any of you jerks about my favorite Red Sox player Mr. Gomes.
  4. A new directive came down today. Sox players are prohibited from making any throws from Home to 3rd. Go Boston!
  5. That's a good lineup for Game 3 MVP ... I doubt however that WMB will start but I home that he does.
  6. Salty really had a bad read on the throw ... he needed to move up the line keeping the runner at 2nd. So what if the game is tied ... just an ugly ugly play all around. The throw from left, the play by Salty and the throw to 3rd. Just 1 game however ... things will return to normal after the Sox's victory this Saturday.
  7. I am not saying numerous things ... I am stating the obvious and have yet to change my position. You pick the best players to put on the field based on their body of work. I want for you to compare Gomes vs. Nava against RHP for the entire 2013 season and tell me that you start Gomes because he lights a fire ... give me a break. A player does not light any fires unless he gets on base. Can the Sox still win games with a player not hitting jack ... of course they can.
  8. I do get it ... based on the 2013 season and the playoffs Nava should have as many and possibly more plate appearances as Gomes. End of story. Gomes has failed at the plate while Nava is watching him from the bench. One last time ... Nava hit .320 against RHP for the 2013 season. The Sox have faced all RHP's in the Detroit Series and 2 RHP's in the Card's series ... why is this so hard for you to understand. Why is Farrell playing Papi? Why?
  9. Agree ... hard to explain why Nava with an OBP of .429 in the playoffs is not appreciated by his manager. hard to explain the Morales decision. Farrell makes mistakes like all managers do. He is human, the players are human, there are too many variables and no control group. There is no way of knowing for sure is there. What we are talking about is making the correct decision based on the data. If you go by the data you cannot be criticized for making the decision ... it is explainable. There is no reason what-so-ever that Nava has not had at the very least an equal number of plate appearances as Gomes with all the RHP's that the Sox have faced.
  10. You just don't get it MVP ... yes Farrell has done a great job this year ... his total body of work cannot go without appreciation. Did he hit a Grand Slam in game 2 against Detroit ... the answer is no ... that would be David Big Papi Ortiz. Did he have Ortiz in the lineup enabling him to hit that Grand Slam ... the answer is yes ... should we give Farrell credit for having Ortiz in the lineup and not replacing him with a pitch hitter? Maybe Nava has 2 home runs and throws a perfect strike to home plate last night if Farrell played him but there is no way of knowing. I do know however that Ortiz was in the lineup not based on any hunches but based on Ortiz's body of work over the 2013 season. When you have as many baseball fans and experts question the Nava-Gomes situation you know that something is not quite logical. Did Lester really need to go as many innings and throw as many pitches in game 1? I say NO based on the Sox pitching situation and leaving open the possibility of Lester pitching game 4. I like Farrell ... but I have the right as a fan to disagree with him from time to time just as you do.
  11. Yes ... Bogaerts and Middlebrooks ... Drew could use a day off. I doubt however that Farrell will do it.
  12. Too bad it took a loss in game 2 to finally make the correct decision.
  13. What do you mean? ... Nava only batted .320 against RHP this season ... why should he be playing?
  14. You will lose tonight and please do not be blaming the umpires. Let's say that the umpires upheld the incorrect call ruling that the ball was dropped during the transfer. Napoli's double still would score 2 runs vs. 3. That alone is 1 run more than the Cards scored for the game. Case closed.
  15. Enough already MVP ... Boston is 8-3. Gomes has done very little relative to many other players on the team
  16. Especially when you can direct the same $13M to area's of need ... pitching.
  17. Catching a baseball is important if you wish to win a game or two. I especially enjoyed watching Drew's 50 foot blast drop in.
  18. Whatever!
  19. Keep praying for us Keep praying.
  20. True that UN but my point is that the Sox faced some really good pitching, pitchers pitching as good as they can pitch and we still overcame in the end. We are tough.
  21. The Tigers pitching in the ALCS was amazing .... a good thing for the Sox as nothing they see now against the Cards will unnerve them.
  22. IMO Bogaerts will be the odds-on favorite to win the AL Rookie of Year in 2014. There is no indication that he will not be a success at the plate or on the field. We all should be happy as kids in a candy store. Drew is a nice player ... IMO the Sox will make a QO to him but he will turn it down and sign a 3 -4 year deal with another team. Good for Boston and good for Drew. Middlebrooks will work on his plate discipline and improve greatly next season. Sox make QO to Salty and Salty accepts it ... If not we obtain another high pick ... a good thing for us. Sox make a QO to Napoli ... and Napoli accepts it ... if not we get another pic. I think the Sox will try to sign Ellsbury and if we can't make that happen then we get another high pic from the QO. We are in the best position of any team in MLB. Lavarnway and JBJ could very well have respectable seasons. Victorino can become lead-off, Pedroia back to the 2 hole and Bogaerts can bat 3rd. (that's right I said it) Ortiz, Napoli, Nava, Middlebrooks, Lavarnway, JBJ. Deal Dempster and sign Tanaka (although rumor has it that Yankees are in hot pursuit for his services). If we are compensated on for 3 QO's that are not accepted along with our own 1st round pic we will be restocking our farm for years to come.
  23. Keep it to yourself ... no spreading bad karma.
  24. Midwest Manners ... you claim that you will be praying for our team. Is this true or a lie? What will you be praying about exactly? Praying that we do not beat up on the Cards? Praying that we do not sweep you again? Praying that Bogaerts does not go yard 2 or 3 times? Please enlighten me on this.
