  1. It would be amazing to pick up 3-4 high draft picks in the process and have JBJ and Lavarnway fill in the holes left behind. With Middlebooks batting .279 with 35 HR's. Bogaerts being named 2014 AL Rookie of the Year and being named to the 2014 All Star Team.
  2. sk ... you are right on about that ... one thing Farrell has done is keep the team focused and also loose at the same time. The players have really enjoying playing ball for this team and that is no small task when dealing with highly paid professional athletes these days. I am a huge fan of Farrell but not a fan of everything he does or doesn't do. I am sure he is right more often than wrong.
  3. I agree with you on the big picture ... he surely has the inside for Manager of the Year.
  4. Carp is not a great glove ... you would prefer him over Nava?
  5. If you find it annoying just move on. And tell me exactly why the Sox are going to part with Nava? I am all ears
  6. I was going nuts on that one .... announcing to everyone in the room that Farrell has lost his mind. But that was an in game decision ... why does Farrell not respect Nava?
  7. The players had something to do with the Team getting to the WS ... Farrells situational mistakes do not necessarily doom the team ... unlike Leyland's mistakes in games 2.
  8. Well in baseball there will always be second guessing. I have to disagree with your statement that pitching in baseball in more important than goal tending in hockey ... there is much more pressure on the goal tender. If a pitcher is having an off day he can easily be replaced with 1 of 9 or 10 other pitchers. I do agree that both positions can dominate a game but a goal tender has a greater chance of dominating an entire series. Anyway .... Nava's OBP against Tampa .429 ... his OBP against Detroit once again .429. He has hardly been slumping in either series. In 56 games in LF Nava had 1 error and no errors in the playoffs.
  9. I agree ... I hate when a manager says he has a hunch ... this is not some home poker game here ... The logic to back Gomes is flawed although don't get me wrong I do like Gomes and prefer him against a LHP. To think that if Gomes started in all the post season games that we would not have lost a game is wrong. To say that if Nava played in more games that we would have lost those games is also wrong. To leave off a player that bats what .320 against RHP with a very good OPS out of these games is silly.
  10. If Drew accepts the 14M qualifying offer I would imagine that Bogaerts plays 3rd. I would prefer Drew - Bogaerts over Bogaerts - Middlebrooks. Of course Middlebrooks could work on things this off season ... like setting the jugs machine to deliver one slider after another to the outside part of the plate and just stand there and watch and as one after another go by him. Middlebrooks has a huge upside ... I hope that he can figure things out.
  11. To be more clear ... I have the option to disagree with some of the things that Farrell does. Not given Nava AB's is one of them.
  12. Well ... if Drew is really this good and there was not special agreement with Sox management then the Sox will probably make him a QO. They can always start Bogaerts at 3rd and let Middlebrooks begin the season at AAA. What they cannot afford to do is play with Bogaerts head and better still not use such a valuable asset.
  13. What metrics are you using to support your claim that Drew was in the top 5 of all SS's
  14. In the end the only thing that matters is what Farrell thinks. As a fan I have the option to disagree with everything that Farrell thinks and does.
  15. sk ... you have a good baseball mind. You are probably right about BC already having his mind made up ... one thing for sure is that Bogaerts is doing everything in the playoffs to ease BC's mind. The kid is as good a prospect as I have seen come through the farm system. He might be as good as Hanley Ramirez.
  16. Be sure to work both sides of the equation ... How pitches pitch against RHB or LHB and how hitters hit against RHP or LHP.
  17. One thing for sure .... Drew has done nothing at the plate to increase his chances of being re-signed by Boston. His glove has been solid but that is not enough with Bogaerts in the wings. Bogaerts prefers to play short and not 3rd.
  18. That's a good point ... there might be a gentleman's agreement not to give Drew a QO if he is not re-signed past 2013.
  19. It means that throughout the season Nava earned more AB's in the playoffs especially against RHP's
  20. Need to get on base to run the bases and as far as playing LF they are comparable.
  21. based on these numbers Nava should start against Wainwright and Gomes against Wacha.
  22. He might be right however ... about being retarded that is. Although I do give him some cred for his John Lackey remarks.
  23. Seriously? makes no sense that athletes are generally compensated for past performance ... this is fact
  24. Be reasonable ... what is reasonable about batting a weaker hitter against RHP in the Tigers series ... what logic and reason is that?
  25. My thinking is that Nava earned more AB's in the post season ... especially against RHP ... players need to play to have opportunity to increase their value.
