  1. Are you saying that Beltron will play the OF and Nava 1B? Or Nava OF and Beltran 1B? My gut says the Sox will not land Beltran ... too old and too expensive. Great hitter though.
  2. I am referring to Trouts first partial year of MLB action ... compare to JBJ's first partial year. You cannot take anything from JBJ's first partial year. His minor league numbers have more significance.
  3. Sox would have been better off with JBJ over Dempster.
  4. It would not surprise me if teams have contacted Boston about Nava.
  5. Tanaka may choose which team with all things being equal. What club it going to allow Tanaka to take a lower offer ... that would be money that the club looses out on not Tanaka.
  6. Dojji ... go look up Mike Trouts stats and compare them to JBJ's.
  7. UN is correct ... this critical view of JBJ is unwarranted ... as I said many times ... go look up the stats for Mike Trout. JBJ already showed that he can play CF ... we won games against some really good teams with Drew batting .083. Worse case senario JBJ is our .083 hitter and we still win games. There is absolutely no indication that JBJ will not post an OBP of .340 or higher especially at the back of the order. Why fork over 20M when you can get the job done for 500K. To be honest I do not think that Ellsbury is in the Sox plans ... they will not come out and say it because Ellsbury is very popular with the fan base. If JBJ did not exist well that is a horse of a different color.
  8. Then all the more reason for the Sox to go after him. Make your main rival weaker while making your team stronger ... it has a double effect.
  9. Boras is a bore! 36 / 3 is the tops for Drew. And this is being kind.
  10. You only know you love her when you let her go. You are right mvp ... unless teams are running wild against the Sox give Lavarnway a shot ... I cannot imagine that he is that much of a defensive liability compared to Salty. Let Ross stay on and catch 2 of 5 games. I am all in on JBJ
  11. If Sox sign Drew & Napoli. Package: Gomes, Carp, WMB, Webster for Stanton
  12. What gives you that idea. UN - I am curious what player that you feel the Sox should go after.
  13. UN ... you crack me up. But you are probably right. I wish we can just focus on our real needs ... like Tanaka as a SP ... don't you agree?
  14. LF - Stanton CF - JBJ RF - Vic 1B - Naps 2B - we can find someone to play 2B SS - Bogaerts 3B - WMB C - Lavarnway DH - Big Papi SP - Tanaka - had to put that in. Lineup Victorino Pedoria Stanton Ortiz Napoli Bogaerts Middlebrooks Lavarnway JBJ Can Stanton play 1B eventually?
  15. I like Stanton with Tanaka!!!! laughing
  16. So the theory behind the opt-out clause is that the player gives you his very best in those 5 years so that he can make a bigger contract over the last 5.
  17. Stanton has high upside no doubt. Could not Florida do a Sign & Trade type of deal. Extend Stanton for 10 years @ 100M and then trade for players & prospects? He is making 500K now ... it would be hard to pass on 100M of guaranteed money especially with his recent injuries.
  18. You make a valid point ... you can add Lars Anderson and Kalish to that list. Sometimes great prospects get derailed with injuries too.
  19. I am not feeling that type of deal. What you are saying is that if he preforms as forecast he gets to opt-out but if he sucks then he gets paid anyway. What am I missing here?
  20. Someone has a man crush on Stanton. Don't worry it happens to all of us.
  21. These 2014 WS odds are predicated on the fact that players like Han Ram and Kemp will be healthy for the entire season.
  22. Talking about Webster. Upon 2nd thought you are correct. He will improve his control and go on to have a great career with Boston so we can really rub it in to the Dodgers fans.
  23. You make a lot of sense .... but you forgot to mention that the Sox need to get Tanaka.
  24. I am surprised. I love Kemp. Health Kemp > Healthy Ellsbury
  25. Dodgers are favorites to win WS in 2014. There is a good reason for this as they are oozing with talent. Listed in order of value: 1. Kershaw 2. Han Ram 3. Kemp 4. Puig 5. Greinke 6. Gonzo
