  1. I hope that they are able to come to reasonable terms will all 4 of our free agents. This is not very likely and probably does not make a lot of sense with Bogaerts and JBJ ready or near ready to go. Even if they get a discount on Ellsbury ... lets say 18M per and Drew at 10M per does it really make sense? The number of years matter as well. Ells will want 6+ and Drew 4.
  2. Cheap does not mean not good. In 2007 Ellsbury was cheap. In 2012 and 2013 Mike Trout was cheap. In 2013 Koji and Salty were cheap. In 2014 JBJ, Bogaerts, Middlebrooks, Carp, Nava, Lavarnway, Ross, will all be cheap. Does not mean that they all cannot be good.
  3. And although not every player immediately grew facial hair by the end of the season and against the wishes of wifes and girlfriends they all had their version of a beard. Very cool.
  4. 3/40 yes but only guarantee 7M per.
  5. Depending how well WMB and Cecchini do I can see Cecchini as a possible replacement for WMB if he does not perform.
  6. I had not considered Lavarnway sharing 1B with Carp. That could work out extremely well. We can have 2 platoon situations at LF and 1B at a very attractive cost. Both can also pitch hit for one another late in a game when the situation calls for it.
  7. There are always moving parts. I think a platoon system at 1B would work and for less money. I think the platoon system in left will work for 2014 as well. No matter what happens with 1B the Sox will be alright. It seems to me that ownership is showing great restraint which is a good thing. The Sox will still be playoff contenders in 2014 without Napoli or Beltran or Drew or Ellsbury or Salty. That is all a club can ask for ... to be playoff contenders. We have seen first hand what happens to teams that overreach and fall short.
  8. The scouting report on Vasquez is that he has superior defensive tools. He also gives a good average and OBP. I think it is a big reason why the Sox reportedly only offered 2 years to Salty.
  9. I think it could be a good thing to get the other teams feed as you get to hear their perspective on the Sox
  10. Watching Molina catch in the WS was a treat. He probably is responsible for lowering the era of each game he catches by .5
  11. How does that work? Do you get the Sox games via MLB.TV?
  12. When we look at Roster Projections for 2014 I have this feeling that 2 players that will see some MLB action next year are Brentz and Vasquez. Only a feeling ... no fact UN no fact. Anyone else think this way.
  13. No doubt that they will be restocking their farm big time. They can use some of their savings on signing bonuses.
  14. There have been rumors that Tampa might take offers for David Price. Could Tampa do a sign & trade?
  15. How did you become a Sox fan?
  16. Sure ... I see Ross going 1 of 3 games.
  17. Middlebrooks showed such promise and he still may yet. Great teams have a balance of veterans and rookies and players in between the two. The Sox are getting younger which will serve them well going forward since in their case younger does not mean less talented. JBJ!
  18. I think that Ross will be up for whatever the team throws at him knowing it is his last dance.
  19. Yankees Jeter = Red Sox Pedroia. Doesn't get any better than this.
  20. Are you a transplant? Sounds like a worthy trip with my wife.
  21. I second that Jung ... I want to hear what you have to say.
  22. You make a good point mvp
  23. Where do you live Bellhorn?
  24. True that!
