    The sox aren't stupid. They know starting Joe Kelly gives them the best chance to secure that number 1 pick.

    He did say last year that he doesn't want to be like jeter and announce his retirement right before the season he was going to retire, but I wouldn't be surprised if he changed his mind. Barring injury, he will probably be around five or so hrs away from 500 at the end of the season. I don't see him playing in 2017 unless he thinks the team has a great title shot.

    Exactly how I feel. I realize that some of his actions can certainly get on people's nerves and I can see why people would rag on him. I personally give him a pass as well because of all he has done.

    He is the best thing to happen to the red sox. He still has to carry this stupid team even though he's almost 40 years old.

    No playoffs 5 of the last 6 years. The real problem is having meaningless baseball in august and september 3 of the last 4 years.

    I hadn't even noticed that until you brought that up. Thats interesting that lefties average velocity is around 3 mph lower on average. I wonder if it is just a lefties mechanics that cause it or if there is just a shortage of lefty power arms. I saw that about 25% of all mlb pitchers are left handed, which is more than the 10 percent of the human population who are lefthanded. Maybe they are just pushing lefties to pitch who don't have the big velocity of most major league starters because the way they throw makes the ball cut and sink more.

    Really? I heard his fastball normally sits between 88-91 which was what jereds was around the time he came up.
