    When you have a big payroll, you always expect to be competitive as a fan and you rightly should. You don't expect to suck as bad as teams with half your payroll.

    How about in a 10 year span, would you rather your team make the playoffs nine times and never win a championship or make the playoffs only once and win a championship that year?

    It comes down to opinion. Would you rather be like the patriots the last nine years or the new york giants?

    Fair to say. I'd much rather be competitive year in and out than win a championship sometimes but suck for the majority. It's always exciting when your in contention for a ring until the moment you get eliminated.

    This whole season we have gotten inconsistent starting pitching and s*** offense. I'm sorry, but when you have a payroll like the red sox, you cannot have 2 sub par seasons in 3 years. I don't care if you won a world series last year, you still have to be competitive the year after with the big payroll the sox have. You can't be a 70 win team.

    What do you think the sox do with WMB before the deadline?

    In 2012, our whole pitching staff slumped big time and now in 2014 our whole offense is slumping big time. Pedey seems to be heating up now but excluding the last game in the yankees series and today he has largely been mediocre. Papi's hr numbers are there but he hasn't been able to maintain a high average like last year. Nava started to hit good in june up until the yankees series cam around but he has been a shell of what he was last year (but we all knew he wasn't going to hit 300 again this year). Nap has been comparable to last year through his first 230 or so at bats cept with less strikeouts and doubles, but I would like to see more out of him. One of the biggest problems has been outfield offensive production, which has been dreadful. It will be interesting to see what the sox do at the deadline.
