  1. It's not crazy at all, it takes more than demonstrating a skill such as a good approach at the plate for two months. Players need to commit the skill to muscle memory, otherwise they'll just revert back to their bad habits when they're challenged and frustrated. Honestly, what downside is there to keeping him in AA for another three weeks?
  2. If he hits like this for the next three weeks, then it would be reasonable to promote him. There's no hurry, we don't currently have a spot for him so we have the luxury of being cautious. Ellsbury and Pedroia are different, they both went to college and had more advanced hitting approaches entering the minors.
  3. I'm well aware. He's still the youngest guy in the league and he's just started to make adjustments to AA.
  4. So John Farrell said that Middlebrooks could be optioned to AAA after he comes off the DL if he doesn't "prove himself". Last night, he went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. I like that we have a manager who holds players accountable.
  5. The draft is being broadcast tonight on MLB Network and MLB.com (for free I'm pretty sure) for those that want to watch it. Coverage starts at 6, draft starts around 7.
  6. I would say it's rushing him, he's already the youngest guy in the league. It's not going to stunt his development to let him show he can hit like this over the next month, and then if he's still killing the ball he can be promoted.
  7. Holland annoys the hell out of me. Not only does he pitch great against us (5-1 with a 2.41 ERA), but he looks like a goober doing it. If he at least looked like he was over the age of 16, I think I would have an easier time processing it.
  8. He was a big part of what was the first dynasty in MLB history. The Red Sox won four times that decade and they won five of the first 15 World Series. And that doesn't include 1904, when the New York Giants refused to even play them in the World Series.
  9. Don't worry, you're not seeing things. I realized as soon as I posted it that I put the wrong number in there.
  10. Bosch already had very little credibility. MLB has much more of a case than what Bosch is saying though, as has already been pointed out.
  11. Boston definitely dominated the first overtime, by the second overtime, it looked like both teams were too tired to maintain any momentum. The play was very back and forth because both teams were so sloppy.
  12. Yeah, Frazier's a guy who's above average at everything. The best position players available in the draft are probably Kris Bryant and Colin Moran.
  13. Most mocks I've seen have the Twins taking high school pitcher Kohl Stewart at number four and the Red Sox taking Clint Frazier at number seven. From what I've read, the Red Sox would prefer Stewart and are hoping he falls to them.
  14. BERGERON IN DOUBLE OVERTIME! 53 f***ing saves for Rask. Just five wins away from Lord Stanley's Cup!
  15. Brandon Workman promoted to AAA. 24 year old righthander, drafted out of college in 2010. 5-1, 3.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 7.0 H/9, 2.3 BB/9, 10.1 K/9 in 65.2 innings this year at AA.
  16. Yeah, the fact that he's a shortstop is just gravy. He was ranked as a top prospect before scouts starting thinking he could stick at short.
  17. I think Babe Ruth in 1919 is worthy of a reserve spot as a LF. He hit .322 .456 .657 in the dead ball era for an OPS+ of 217.
  18. Lavarnway might not make a bad first baseman. Behind him, we've got Almanzar who's OPSing .846 as a 22 year old in AA. I agree with User Name?, power hitting first basemen are a dime a dozen.
  19. How much you wanna bet Jonny Gomes is on the list?
  20. The the way the suspension process worked with Braun and Cabrera. The players are suspended, and they then get to appeal. Then the case is heard in front of an arbitrator who decides if they will be reinstated or not. It's not like MLB is going to build their case in the next two weeks, they've been building their case for months.
  21. ACES is the player agent firm that's involved in the investigation. They were also involved in the fake Melky Cabrera web site when he attempted to lie to avoid his suspension.
  22. They suspend the players first, and then it's up to the players to appeal their case.
  23. I disagree. This would be no different than if someone bought tickets and their favorite player got a season ending injury. MLB needs to send a strong message to the players. If they wait until the pennant race is over to suspend these players, it would send the message that players can use PED's to help get their team over the hump, go out and compete in the playoffs and then pay the price later. That would turn off just as many fans as well. Keep dreaming. If there's one thing A-Rod loves more than himself, it's money. Oh, and butch prostitutes. But mostly money. MLB has written records and multiple witnesses. There are computer records, there are receipts, there are phone records and there are two former Bosch employees and a player agent involved in the investigation.
  24. This looks like a team that's going to be competitive for a long time. We're in first place, we have would would probably rank as a top five farm system, we have players who have been ranked two of the best 25 prospects in baseball and we have the 7th overall pick in the draft. What a difference a year makes.
  25. Told there are "other major, major names" involved in the Biogensis scandal besides A-Rod and Braun. Any of Cano, Ortiz, Cabrera or Trout wouldn't surprise me.
