  1. Players can have years when they don't perform as well as they have historically. Furthermore, if these "stars" play like those two guys are playing right now, they are fair game for criticism. If McDonald or Punto fail to hit HRs or average, its hard to criticize them too much because they are not expected to do much. Yes, they stink, but they are expected to stink. Lester and Gonzalez are supposed to perform well and they are not doing it. You can cheer them if you want, and I can heckle them if I want.
  2. Thats been pretty often lately. And he looks pathetic doing it too.
  3. Sorry guys: Gonzo is a pathetic piece of s*** at the plate right now. Thats just the way it is. No excuses for him either; no mercy.
  4. Smyly? Whats his last name? Whiplash? OOPS...thats Snidely Whiplash.
  5. No excuses for this crap are needed. He does it every game. Whats he up to now? 26 pitches in the first inning and already surrendering a run? He sucks right now. No excuses are needed.
  6. The hit through Aviles was nailed on the button. Lester sucks.
  7. Lester sucks. Screw Lester. All talk. "Gotta do better. Gotta do better".
  8. Don't give up a homer here Lester........
  9. Lester up to his usual s***. Pitching like a version of Lackey
  10. Aviles has to make that play.
  11. But Oakland has a crappy offense. Oh wait....they just won a series against the Red Sox and scored 15 runs in three games. Liriano would be fine for depth. Bard has a limit on how much he can pitch this year and we will be needing another SP at some point.
  12. White Sox 4; Damn Rays 3. Final score.
  13. Why not bring up Pedro Ciriaco (hitting .304/.723 at Pawtucket this year and who did very well in spring training) and give Pedroia time to heal?
  14. In the end, all these injuries to position players. while irritating, have not stopped our offense much. We remain second in runs scored and third in OPS. Even without Pedroia for 4 weeks we should still be able to score runs, especially if Gonzalez somehow returns to form. Our success this season will depend on a healthy and effective pitching staff much more than whether or not Pedroia is out for a month. If we get good pitching, we will contend; if not, we won't.
  15. Getting a shot of some sort (lidocaine, cortisone) is much different than suturing an ankle tendon to play baseball. Still, even doing that in the playoffs earned Schilling a permanent place in Boston baseball lore.
  16. That was also the playoffs. Schilling would not have done that in May.
  17. Honestly, I am not worried about our record right now. Its the pitching and how that is doing, and I am seeing signs that it is improving on all fronts and becoming more competitive. Now we need to see some consistency with the starting pitching....and Pedroia cannot be lost for a long period of time.
  18. EXCELLENT! Somehow Bard beat Verlander tonite.
