  1. He is slow. Double plays are going to happen. I can live with that. But he has to be able to hit lots of HRs. Thats why he was brought here: hit and hit with power. Hopefully its not just that the pitchers have figured him out.
  2. Yup. Seems so. In the end everyone has to live with the decisions they make and the consequences resulting from those decisions. When a lot of people are telling you that your actions are offensive you can either choose to stonewall that information or you can look at it critically to see if it is true. You might still conclude that its invalid criticism but at least you put the effort to listen in. Those other posters: they aren't here any more, apparently, at least not many of them. As happens with every successful internet board, new ones replace the old ones and change the tone a bit. For my part, its not bad here at all, usually.
  3. Morales is having a bad game. It happens. He has had lots of good games too. I would keep trotting him out there as a SP for the rest of the year and see where he lands.
  4. Because this is a RED SOX thread. I would not think of going to a Yankees thread and posting some of the crap you post here when your team is up. Or has kicking your opponent when they are down suddenly back in style?
  5. TalkSox and TalkPats. Lets discuss this offline, if thats OK. I am curious about how it all works.
  6. He is up there, thats for sure. What I like about that team is the professionalism and the effort, every game, all the time. I can take losses if they are outplayed, but not if there is the level of sloppiness and MEFIRST present like on the Sox. We have to realize that there is a key difference in football: the contracts are not guaranteed. That makes a big difference. In football, mouth off and you are history. In baseball, mouth off and you are in the lineup. Sure wish that would change.
  7. He just cannot be the SS of the future. I think he is better suited as the utility IF, the Nick Punto, than as a regular player. Add SS to the list of positions we have to fill. Iglesias will probably never hit well enough to play in the majors.
  8. Its going to be a little easier this year I would think. Off line, I would like to find out more about the logistics of TalkSox...who owns it, who runs it, where the money to operate it comes from. Just curious. Can I pm you later about it?
  9. The Patriots will be playing in about a month. Their preseason schedule starts off with a game against the Saints around Aug 10. Somehow they got three games scheduled in just 9 days. Tough to evaluate the players like that.
  10. He IS going to walk. We should try to trade him before the deadline. That way we can hopefully get something in return. Do we get draft picks if he walks and signs with someone else next year?
  11. Defending Jacko and his gloating is getting impossible. I think that if he wants to gloat he should do it with other Yankee fans. Its boorish here.
  12. Lay off SFF. He is a good Sox fan. He sees what is happening out there too.
  13. BTW: these losses are not all bad. As they pile up, one after another after another after another the pressure on the owners will mount. Eventually they will break and finally do something constructive, perhaps sell the team. Sure hope the fans are booing until they are hoarse today.
  14. Well put SCM. I am not going to bother with this bunch of loser bums today either. Don't even have the game on TV. The score tells me everything I need to know.
  15. Very well thought out post E1. Just read it once and will try to look at it more critically later. I noticed, as you said here, that you focused on the offense. I believe that our FO must shift its focus to good SP prospects. You mentioned two, Barnes and Britton. What about Raynaudo? He could make it to the majors too. Other than those three I don't see much in our minor league system to help us, and that means that we are going to have to trade for them using either major league players like Ellsbury or some of the blocked minor league players. It also assumes that our FO is capable of judging which SP prospects to acquire, and frankly, I do not think that the current administration is capable of doing that. They are going to have to be fired first, before the rebuilding can begin. Finally, I notice that we are really looking at the 2015 season before the detritus from Theo Epstein's bad contracts are fully gone. Thats two more years like this year. Pretty demoralizing, isn't it.
  16. They are easy to hate, these Red Sox, but they are still our team. Not sure if you were around to root for them in the 70s and 80s, but man, talk about frustrating! Every single year it was the same thing. "Wait 'till next year". At least now they have some good players to build around and the potential to compete for a ring in a couple of years if they play their cards right.
  17. Don't kid yourself. The time for big wins ended long ago. Who are the Yankees actually competing against in the ALE this year? Go Rangers.
