Generally you aren't going to hear about problems in the clubhouse until they are about to explode. Passan apparently knew something or he would not have written about it. Yes, its from 2015, but I admit I have to agree with Jacko.....a zebra doesn't lose his stripes. Furthermore, I watch the games. I saw Hanley not running hard to first base (no, he is not the only one-but some guys, like Pedroia, ALWAYS run hard). And his not paying attention to stop signs given by the 3B coach got old too. Its part of not giving the game your full attention when you are playing. Its fine when your OPS is .900, or even .800...but Ramirez wasn't contributing either. If I am not contributing at my job you better believe I am going to try my hardest to make SURE my superiors think I am doing my best. Hanley didn't do that. And I DO believe the option was a major contributor to his being released.....only the blind cannot see that.

Great. So it was Zolek and Bertrand that used the term. Call it whatever you like, Hanley has a reputation of being a polarizing figure in the clubhouse at times. His effort and hustle have been questionable, along with his focus, which leads to dumb mistakes. If he was producing none of it would matter to me, but when you are not focused and when you don't put forth the effort to succeed AND you are not producing, frankly, thats something I can do without on my team.

Lind signed a minor league contract. I assume that he is prepared to play in the minors until he is called up. I don't see the down side for this move.

I am calling them antics...so is Passan. You can label them however you like. I remember witnessing Ramirez running through stop signs by the 3B coach then getting thrown out by 20 feet at home, for example. Beni also makes dumb mistakes on the basepaths sometimes, but he is in his second full year with the team and he is still learning. Hanley is in his 12th full year and should have learned by now. Furthermore, I never see Beni not running out ground balls-ever. Ever see Hanley not run them out? That sort of thing too....lack of effort at times.

Where there's smoke there's fire. Ramirez frequently made stupid mistakes on the basepaths (and yes, he had a lot of company) and at times his effort and his hustle were questionable. Those are the antics to which I am referring, and I backed up my opinion with that of a sports writer from Yahoo Sports. That lack of effort at times affected his performance, which is all I as a Sox fan really care about: the bottom line. Believe what you will.

Players get hurt. If Moreland, now our primary 1B, is out for an extended period it will be good to have Lind playing in the minor league for us.

But what you implied is that I am a racist, and while I think every one of us has a little racism inside that needs to be acknowledged and resisted, my comment about Hanley had nothing to do with the color of his skin or how he combs his hair. Sports wrote in his latest column that Ramirez’s attitude “has irked some respected members of the Red Sox’s clubhouse.” Passan came on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Zolak & Bertrand show on Monday to provide more details on Ramirez’s antics, which are nothing new to anybody that’s covered him. “What’s going on with Hanley Ramirez is the same thing that’s gone on with Hanley Ramirez when he was in the minor leagues with the Red Sox, the same thing that’s gone on with Hanley Ramirez in the major leagues while with the Marlins, and the same thing that happened last year with the Dodgers,” Passan said. “His effort bothers people, and his seeming lack of effort sometimes [bothers people]. Some days he looks like Manny Ramirez, and other days he looks like Sam Horn; just an out of shape, can’t-hit-very-well Red Sox. It’s the inconsistency that bothers people,” Passan added. Speaking to that inconsistency, his 2015 season is so far a perfect example of that. Ramirez came out of the gates as hot as can be, batting .293 while slugging 10 home runs and 22 RBI in the month of April. In the month of May he hit .235 and drove in just 5 RBI. Ramirez is having a much better June, batting .308 with 3 home runs and 10 RBI. Red Sox fans — and apparently his teammates too — hope Ramirez’s production can be more reliable over the next three and a half seasons. “Hanley Ramirez could be one of the best players in baseball year in and year out, I think, if the effort was there all the time and the attitude was right. But he’s gotten out of shape and he hasn’t grown up still. The fact that he’s 30 years old now and is still at that point where he’s having the same maturity problems when he was younger bothers a lot of people,” Passan said. The Red Sox, 31-40, are still last in the American League East, but just took two out of three from the AL All-Star Team Kansas City Royals. Things are still bad, but at least they are starting to show glimpses of what they could be if they could just put it altogether. As bad as things are it’s still not the Bobby Valentine season in 2012, so according to Passan the Red Sox won’t be blowing up the roster anytime soon. “Blowing this team up just doesn’t make sense. The Red Sox have a massive advantage because they are a cash cow. The sellout streak is over, but they still make a lot of money. As long as you’re making money you can paper over the mistakes,” Passan said. Adding, “You don’t have to sell off guys like [Pablo] Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez unless they become such a problem in the clubhouse that things can’t exist for them anymore. You know what takes cares of that though? Winning. And the Red Sox have a foundation in place to win ballgames.”"

ERA of 2.45 for the six games in May in which he has appeared. Not a stellar OPS against though....but compared to Pomeranz, he is Sandy Koufax.

Velasquez has an ERA of 2.15 and is 5-0 this year so far...just not a good outing for him, but he has been solid overall.

The tying run IS on deck...unless I can't add. A slam makes it 8-7; another HR by the on deck hitter ties the game

Very good analysis. When you watch JD at the plate and compare him to Bradley the difference is striking. Remy during one of the broadcasts asked the production crew to put them on the screen side by side but I don't think that ever happened. JD's head follows the ball all the way to contact; Bradley does not. Like you said, he isn't going to change, partly because he has had too much practice repeating bad habits and partly because he is resistant to coaching. For the past week he is batting .300 with an OPS over .800, but I don't see that lasting for long. His swing has too many mechanical flaws.

I don't see it. They are playing well and are the reigning champs. Why would they want someone like Hanley in the clubhouse? He can be a bit disruptive at times with his antics.

In any event, its nice to see that Price had a respectable outing...and that Bradley in the past week has batted .300/.833. Lets hope he can sustain that....looks much better now that he isn't trying to pull everything. First place ahead of the Yankees...20 games over .500.....life is good.
