  1. Thats just wrong. Imaging Kobe sitting a game out because he has a cold, or Lucic not playing because his nose is stuffy. Same thing. Athletes play in games their team needs them. Gonzalez can rest tomorrow-if a cold is why he is out.
  2. I honestly think that when Crawford does come back he is going to produce. Might not be this year, but he busts his ass to keep in shape and is a very very good athlete. These injuries are not his fault. I don't hold him accountable for them. Still, its fun to make jokes about it.
  3. Can you imagine Tom Brady sitting out a game because he had a cold? Just saying....
  4. You and Laser make excellent points. Shame on me for not realizing this for myself.
  5. If Crawford need TJ surgery he should get it done now. What is the point of waiting?
  6. He has done the job offensively this year. But his defensive range is terrible nowadays. Cabrera, Andrus, and Escobar are all better offensively too. He should not be an all star this year.
  7. Lester's confidence right now has to be in the sewer. Probably dreading this start.
  8. HAHAHA This team is totally pathetic. Another two runs in the first inning. Lester is showing us what he is made of tonite, thats for sure.
  9. Lester needs to come out and nail Derek Jeter is his tochas as his first act of business tonite. The Yankees are getting way too comfortable in the box.
  10. You misunderstood me. I said that trading Pedroia is not without its positive points. I am not sure I would really pull that trigger either. I would, however, have no problem gagging him if he keeps mouthing off.
  11. The Dodgers' top pitching prospect is Zach Lee at #62. Not sure if I would give up Ellsbury for someone that low in the rankings. Haven't seen Lee though. The point is that its time to trade some of our established players for some good pitching prospects. Very few players are on my do-not-trade list. There is no reason to wait. The trade deadline is July 31. Time for our FO to begin the rebuilding process.
  12. Just out of curiosity, but what did Pedroia say that makes you think he cannot keep his mouth shut? Two things, primarily. First, before the season started, Valentine made a comment (I think it was about Youkilis not seeming to be himself, but its not important exactly what Pedroia's new boss said) and Pedroia told the media that "Thats not the way we do things around here. He'll (Valentine) figure it out" and second, when Pedroia injured his thumb the first time, his comment when asked if he was going to be on the DL was "No one tells me when I am going to play". Here are the exact quotes: I don’t really understand what Bobby’s trying to do, but that’s not the way we do things here. Maybe in Japan. -Mighty Mouth 4/17 "I'm going to play on Tuesday, man," he said. "They don't tell me anything, man," he said. "I play Tuesday." -Mighty Mouth 6/3 Here is another one from last season: We’re not going to end the season being horse**** like we are…It ain’t going to end like this, I’ll tell you that. -Mighty Mouth, last season early in September Ortiz is the same way. He too should just shut up and play ball. I don't really want to hear about how "disrespected" he is when he team is playing like crap.
  13. Trading Mighty Mouth is not without its benefits. First, he would get us some good players in return, possibly some good pitching and second, it would rid us of another player who does not know when to keep his mouth shut.
  14. Here are some other trades to consider: Seattle is in need of offense. Wonder if they would be interested in an Ellsbury for Taijuan Walker (ranked #20 among ML prospects, RHP) and Danny Hultzen (LHP, ranked #21). We could throw in Punto to make it more tempting. Also, Jon Lester is from the Seattle area. Maybe we could send him out there for some of the Mariners' pitching prospects. Nava could also be part of the deal.
  15. I could be wrong about this, but I believe that the rules in the minors are a little different. I think a player can bat out of order, maybe lead off every inning, to speed rehab time. I don't know if this is being utilized in the cases of CC and JE.
  16. Just a quick comment on your proposal to get a training staff that can keep these guys healthy. I thought this might be related to age, as older players tend to break down more easily and take longer to heal. Turns out the Sox are towards the middle of the pack in terms of age in the AL, ranking fifth in average age of the 14 teams with an average age of 29.3 yrs. In the ALE the Yankees are the oldest team (31.3), the Rays are the fourth oldest (29.8) and the Jays are tied with us at 29.3. So its more than the fact that we are not a real young team. There are older teams ahead of us in the standings.
  17. Our ERA ranks 21st in all of MLB, not 27th. Its at #10 in the AL. Our best SP among the SP who began the season as our SP is Lester with an ERA of 4.33, followed by Doubront (4.41), Beckett (4.43), Bard (5.24), and Buchholz (5.53). I cannot remember a Red Sox team with those kind of statistics for SP. Say all you want about our offense, its impossible to contend for a ring with pitchers like this.
