  1. Again, since you quoted her, I will respond one more time. If he got this "right before the game started", there is not enough time to test him and confirm that this is THE FLU. In fact, this time of year most labs don't even test for the flu. People throw that term around all the time for various viruses. Its inaccurate. They used this term in the case of Gonzales with similar disregard of the facts. I don't really care what it is unless he has leprosy or something, he belongs on the field....with his team. Gutless.
  2. You suit up and do the best you can. Thats what real team players do. Football players play with much worse; most baseball players are soft. Gonzales just showed his true colors tonite. He doesn't give a s*** about his team.
  3. Since you quoted her I can see what she wrote ( I have her on ignore). Its highly likely that this is not the flu. This is JULY. Its NOT flu season. The chances of getting actual flu in this hemisphere in July is pretty close to zero. Its almost certainly a simply cold or perhaps intestinal "flu". Flu is a specific virus that occurs seasonally every year. July is not that season.
  4. Its not like he has to play again tomorrow, right? Seriously. I know that Mazz et al are going to be all over him because of that. Whatever, right? Does it really matter right now? IMO what matters is cleaning this sordid house and getting a decent team on the field in 2014 or 2015. For now, lets see guys like Kalish and Lavarnway and Ciriaco out there.
  5. Of the two, I agree that Beckett should go. Lester will be fine if you expect him to fill the role of a serviceable #3-4 SP. Not more.
  6. I can't tell you how disgusting it is to see Sweeney out there busting his hump after crashing into the wall and seeing Gonzales on the bench with a stuffy nose. Damn prima donna.
  7. They are simply not that talented. Not any more. Beckett has been very inconsistent for his entire time here, performing something like well every other year and horrible in the alternate year. Lester is falling off a cliff. Both should be traded IMO. Time to clean house.
  8. Lester is sure showing everyone what he is made of today. Quite a season.
  9. Do you remember that episode of Manny being Manny? They were playing the Yankees and Manny refused to play (the real reason was contract issues: he was afraid the team would exercise its option for the upcoming year and he wanted to become a FA) saying his knee hurt. So the Sox ordered an MRI and when they asked Ramirez which knee hurt, he couldn't remember. So they MRI'd BOTH knees. Despite it being an incredibly selfish move, I still laughed my ass off.
  10. Its a sign of the kind of clubhouse problems this team has. They are a very soft team with no sense of commitment to the team concept. Its really unimaginable.
  11. I sure hope it doesn't turn out that he left the game because of a cold. That would almost be like Manny refusing to play because of his knee hurt, though when asked he couldn't remember which one.
  12. You just cannot take that pitch Salty. Wonder if this is the beginning of the same kind of decline that he had last year around now.
  13. Here is the rest of it. He injured his knee during the regular season. Also, football players play all the time with broken bones and other assorted maladies. Can you seriously imagine a football player being out because of a cold? It's the same knee Mankins injured late in the regular season against the Dolphins forcing him to miss Week 17. The original injury occurred after his knee collided with a helmet.
  14. He is a legend period. He was great in his time, which has passed. He is also a class act. All that does not make him an all star this year.
