  1. I guess this is all because Swihart can't call a good game.
  2. This is about as bad as the Sox have started a game for a long long time.
  3. So much for that. This was apparently a throwaway game. Look at the guys they trotted out there to start the game. Meanwhile the Yankees are up 5-0.
  4. He is going to have a tough time working his way up to 100+ pitches during the regular season. I think he might have two more starts after Sunday. No argument about limiting him at this point, but it might impact his ability to make a lot of pitches in the playoffs.
  5. He is going to be limited to three innings.
  6. Cuevas is getting way too much of the plate
  7. I guess time will tell. It wouldn't surprise me if the owners stonewalled the players like last year. They are not stupid (ok, some are). They know what we know: the RPs are notoriously inconsistent. I would not offer Kimbrel more than 3 years or 4 if the money didn't break the bank.
  8. Seems Barnes is on his way back.....the season is saved. "Pete Abraham ‏ Verified account @peteabe Some #RedSox stuff: * Eduardo Nunez (right knee) will work out tomorrow and could play Sunday. * Matt Barnes (left hip) threw a bullpen today, scheduled to again on Sunday. Could see him in a game next week. * Porcello will be held to 5-6 IP tomorrow to control his workload."
  9. Last winter is when it really started where some of the top players waited forever and didn't get what they expected. Kimbrel will make a lot of money, no doubt. But LAST year (not the year before that) I see that the guys you cited got three year deals. I am fine with signing Kimbrel for three years, but no longer than that. My guess is that given the overall climate this past winter most GMs are going to be more reluctant than in previous years to give out big long term contracts to anyone. Why would they do otherwise?
  10. The market for FAs changed this past winter. Some very big names didn't have a contract until very late. Its possible that the owners colluded to make that happen. In any event I don't think it will change much this coming winter. Some players are going to be in for a rude shock.
  11. Agreed. He and Leon should be our postseason catchers.
  12. Like I said, Swihart FORCED that error.
  13. Blake will earn his keep right now...
  14. Kelly is like Daniel Bard....he can throw at 100 but he has no control whatsoever. I vote that he should join Bard, wherever he is.
  15. Can we finally release Kelly?
  16. Get him out of there right now....make it permanent
  17. Kelly being Kelly...just unable to get guys out
  18. I don't mind Leon or Vasquez catching IF Devers is not in the game too. The other guys can cover for the fact that those two are black holes. But Swihart hits better and runs better than both of them-and his defense is acceptable too.
  19. Whats Sandy batting lately?
  20. Not liking Wright here at all....
  21. Did Price indicate that he is uncomfortable with Swihart?
  22. I think that the results a pitcher gets are 99% on the pitcher, not the catcher. Swihart is a fine choice as a catcher-he has earned a job. We do need a second catcher; that would be Leon.
  23. Like I said, if Leon is that great a catcher and was responsible for the low ERAs of our SPs then our RPs should also get the same benefit. They aren't.
  24. If Devers is in the lineup too Swihart should be catching to START the game.
