  1. I make Buehler stay out there until his arm falls off so he can be put on the IL for the rest of the year.
  2. We are 14th in hitting and 15th in pitching. We are at .500. Mediocre again. Yet the mss as management says they’re not throwing in the towel. They should. I know they can’t SAY that but it’s obvious they know. Mediocre again. Disgusting
  3. They were pitching him in and hard and he couldn't handle it. He should consider moving a bit off the plate as Middlebrooks said during some of the ABs.
  4. I didn’t say he’s diabetic. But he definitely meets the criteria for obesity. And if you’re obese you’re certainly not “perfectly healthy”. Just because you don’t have complications related to your weight yet doesn’t mean you’re healthy. Now if Devers was squatting 500 pounds and benching 400 pounds and as a result his muscle mass was increased then the bmi calculator should be taken with a grain of salt. Football players do that-heavy lifting-but typically baseball players don’t train that way, so I think the bmi calculator is pretty reliable. By all means form you own opinion but imo Devers meets the criteria for class one obesity.
  5. OK, but the fact is he is obese based not only on his calculated BMI but also via the eye test. Baseball players are not always in the best shape. Papi was and likely still is obese. Sandoval.....many others. These people are not overly muscular. They are carrying too much fat. Devers IS obese and eventually its going to not only hurt his performance on the field but it will affect his overall health.
  6. At 6 feet and 245 lbs (which is what I found) his BMI is 33.2, class one obesity. Anything over 30 BMI is obese. Devers IS obese. Now admittedly there are problems with BMI calculators because they fail to account for people who are overly muscular. But Devers isn't a body builder. He's just obese.
  7. I'm not inclined to use that term, but the fact is that Devers is overweight, probably bordering on obese. Not fat shaming him, just pointing out that his longevity and proclivity towards injury are going to be affected by his weight. Just seems that baseball management should have some sort of weight goals to enforce with their players.
  8. Yeah but now we have (more accurately Henry has) about $250M to spend on high quality players. Let’s see how much of it he invests in the team and how much of it he invests in his wallet. My guess is that he’ll keep most of it. Meanwhile the win streak is over-but we have Crochet going tomorrow.
  9. No doubt this is a move to strengthen the team for the future. So its "just wait 'till next year". Again
  10. You can’t have a player telling management where he will or will not play. It sets a horrible precedent in the clubhouse-especially with the younger players. No doubt Brelow could have handled it better but at the end of the day it’s HIS decision how the roster is constructed and input from the players isn’t necessary. I read an article saying that when you sign a contract for $313M there comes with it the responsibility to do what is best for the team. Devers didn’t hold up his end of the deal.
  11. Yes, the Red Flops will be worse off for the deal, but the important thing is that the cheapskate owner is going to be much richer as a result! The team is going nowhere this year and if Henry keeps the money he is saving they will be going nowhere for the foreseeable future. I don't mind getting rid of a spoiled malcontent like Devers, but at least they should have gotten some sort of return for him that is reasonable rather than making it look like what it is: a money saving move. No respect for ownership at all. They just don't give a s*** anymore. Still going FULL THROTTLE ahead?
  12. Devers sucked defensively. That’s the difference. He’s an excellent hitter and will be for a long time. Unfortunately he’s a me first guy and that’s a poor teammate on a young team.
  13. Injuries are part of the game and are largely unpredictable. Of course if you’re overweight like Casas and Devers you’re going to be more prone to injuries. Casas’ injury could have happened to anyone. It’s a freak injury.
  14. Past injuries are not predictive of future ones. And I would be delighted if Toro and Gonzales can keep it up. Think they can? I don't
  15. I really don't give a rats ass if Devers was "unhappy". Too bad! Things change and people need to be flexible. I know there would have been a learning curve for Devers at 1B and I would not have expected that he would immediately be good there defensively. But others have made the switch. He is a stubborn insubordinate me first player and that is not the culture management wanted here. I don't blame them one bit. We likely won't be contending for a ring or even playing ball in Oct this year, but Devers is replaceable.
  16. Casas has a career OPS of .800. He will be fine when he gets back. If Toro and Gonzalez can maintain what they are doing, which I highly doubt, we are in good shape if Henry uses the money to backfill for Devers.
  17. They should have asked him, if they didn't. He would have refused our pouted. Thats his personality. Remember what he said when they got Bregman when asked about where he was going to play? "I'm playing 3B", not "I'll do whatever is best for the team". Thats BS.
  18. You don't have to do what you are told in a business. You can find another job. Your comparison to Nuremberg is rejected as meaningless. This isn't a war where people are asked to torture or kill people.
  19. You're wrong. Breslow did his job. Devers was a spoiled SOB and refused to switch positions when asked. That is HIS job-to do what he was told. I won't miss his insubordination.
  20. They have rights. If they don't like the rules they can find work elsewhere. That is the choice I was given when I was TOLD I was transferring to another more distant facility. They DO NOT have the right as players to tell management where they will or will not play.
  21. Casas got off to a slow start but I believe he would have come around. Toro and Gonzales have been great-but I doubt they can sustain this pace, not that I wouldn't love that. No, you cannot have a player making decisions about where he will or will not play, no matter who he is. That is the tail wagging the dog. This would have leaked out anyway, regardless of whether or not Breslow went public-because it was the obvious move after Casas got hurt. Its a TEAM sport. There's no "I" in TEAM.
  22. The message to the players is this: it’s a team sport and your job is to do what’s best for the TEAM as determined by management. “Me first” isn’t going to be tolerated.
  23. Absolutely! Breslow should have TOLD Cora that the discussion must happen no matter how uncomfortable it might be. If he refused he should be fired. If Devers then refused to play where he was told to play he sits or gets traded. Chain of command…..
