  1. We traded for Kimbrel but we didn't sign him? Was he playing for us? I think that your point is that we just gave up too much for him. I think about what we gave up and yes I am that guy who is laughing. We got in return for those that we traded one of if not the best closer in the game for how many years again? If this is a comment once again about how all of those assets could have been used differently ... (that is for you notin) - my oh my! Give me a jingle when one of those guys becomes an impact player. This was a decision that you don't agree with I guess. I'm going with DD's take on this one. it worked. I call a big bag of ******** on all of those who constantly make these little nagging stabs at a GM who got it done. You know who you are - 1. He destroyed the farm just ripped it to pieces! What really was there to begin with? He just can't build a bullpen - Look what he did in Detroit - Ok right. Where is Detroit once again? How about that David Price contract right. He has mortgaged the future right. Well if you were planning our future based around the players he traded, your future likely would not have amounted to much.
  2. I dunno - Do I care? Is this a tick question just to see if I might waste a little time and look something like this up?
  3. so - We shouldn't have signed Price and Kimbrel?
  4. I think that both of those guys represent much better options than Kelly in that role.
  5. i'm a huge JD fan and think I realize the impact that he had on the entire team this year. Without him, I don't think that we get where we got. With all of that said, Mookie is the MVP this year. Take him off the roster, and I think that it makes a whole different ballgame. He brings too much to the table on both sides including his baserunning. ability.
  6. I think that you are right. Sam has had plenty of chances and has not lived up to the hype. Sign Eovaldi - 3 years with and option - 15 mil. max try to keep Pearce If Kelly is signed, do not in any way count on him to become your 9th inning man. regardless of how good he looked, during the series, his control is extremely unpredictable.
  7. Bill Buckner - 1986 153 games 629 at bats 18 home runs 102 rbi's 25 strikeouts! .267 Man we would have been so much better off in 1986 without this guy! I have literally no respect for anyone who considers him at all responsible for that particular loss.
  8. there is no way the Sox are going to pay 11 million for Kinsler. I love what he is able to bring and if he brought it for 2-3, he might have a job in Boston. We have too many alternatives at second base to worry too much about him at this point. He helped us win a title and we should be happy about that and for him.
  9. All you would have to do would be to life-size posters of Price,Sale, Porcello, and E-Rod out there in the bullpen and Kelly would definitely get the job done! lol
  10. I did not see the play but have seen the replay many many times. Once again, like Kinsler, and Buckner before, it was unfair to lay the blame at Pesky's feet. First of all, it had to be a bang bang play to have any chance of getting it done. Second of all, if Dimaggio had been in cf that day, it is likely that that play would never have had to be made. Usually someone gets more credit than they deserve for doing a good job and someone else gets more blame than they deserve when things don't work out.
  11. You know what moon most of the time that I post I am trying to get some sort of reaction. It is my way of having fun I guess. With respect to our current farm system, everything you read from every possible expert agrees with what you and notin are saying. There is no arguement there. What I have to add is that a few years ago when I was in Portland watching a team that had both Benintendi and Moncada on it, I thought that for the most part they looked pathetic. I tend not to buy the hype one way or the other until I actually see these guys play. For all the talk about the Espinozas, Moncadas, and Kopeches, I am not judging any of those situations until I actually see them do something that screams greatness to me. Benintendi for all of the positive comments about what he was apt to do, did not look at all like the player he has become in a short time. I really do like the outlook for some of the guys that we have in our farm system. I'm bullish on the future of the franchise. A strong buy if you will!
  12. So true and so sad - Buckner's line over 20 + years of professional baseball looks pretty darn good and unfortunately the only thing some remember him for is that one play.
  13. did I really say that notin? I'm so sorry that it came across that way. it was not meant to be interpreted as a direct statement more of an opinion. I don't think that I mentioned any of the organizations that you referred to here. What I take from this is that if I disagree with your opinions I must be wrong? You are doing it again notin. wordsmithing. I'm sure that you are a very intelligent person - much more intelligent than I am but I do recognize what you do. And look, don't take the condescending word too personally, I kind of like it when people say that I am. There might even be a reason for it but as you said in reference to yourself - It would not be unwise to simply disregard my opinions. You certainly don't have to give value to my opinions which for the most part are unsubstantiated by the types of tools that you like to see used. In today's world it seems everyone has a voice, even those who can't offer facts to back up what they say.
  14. ...I take from this post that I am accusing someone of having some sort of agenda? I'm ok with that to. You just see right through me. For all of this time, I just thought that I was another member of the forum who really didn't appreciate the condescending tone coming from those amongst us who are never wrong because they can prove it with their data...
  15. My personal opinions. I'm ok with you relying on all things data related to rate anything and everything. I realize that my opinions don't necessarily amount too much in the world that you live in. I'm ok with that. You see notin I'm that guy who enjoys reading your personal opinions that are not based on someone elses factual proof of anything. I'm petty sure that to you my postings do not appear credible most of the time but oh well I'm likely not stopping anytime soon.
  16. Really - you don't think that just saying that they will be good won't make them good? Everyday you post I learn something new! Constantly beating a negative tone does no one any good. I have virtually no interest in what the experts think or project. My opinions quite often do not align with yours. I am ok with that. I absolutely believe that DD is in the process of creating a stronger farm and that he has gotten off to a good start. That is my opinion. Everyday in my personal life, I am reminded of what the f***ing experts think and say and everyday I see many of them proven wrong. i am willing to watch things play out before I formulate an opinion of anything based upon any experts projection. It is kind of like a weather forecast to me. Im not going to cancel a day of school based on an experts projection. They are wrong too often.
  17. Yes I have. Years ago when we completed the trade for him, as unusual as it might seem, I took a beating for even suggesting that this young man had the potential to put up ace like numbers. That is probably hard to imagine right? lol i have to say though, that I have been disappointed by his progress. Obviously the injuries have taken their toll but just the same it has been frustrating for me to watch him. A classic all the talent in the world kind of guy. I understand that it is an old school approach but I have that image of him waddling toward second base on that groundball etched in my brain. A World Series game!!! he likely isn't going anywhere so I will continue to cheer for him.
  18. Congrats to all three yes that includes Ian Kinsler. It is a damn good thing we had him when we needed him.
  19. We will just have to wait and see how they do. I'm going to go the positive route.
  20. A good positive post. I agree with you about the current farm being under rated. Dombrowski and team have done an excellent job starting to get us back on track. I don't have to tell you that DD won't get any credit from some based solely upon personal opinions of what he has done in the way back past. He is as good as there is in the game with respect to the things GMs do.
  21. I think that our much maligned farm system will very likely surprise a lot of people this year. It isn't that bad.
  22. Oh I don't think that you meant it in the strictest sense of the word. The idea that Sale might have made such a demand was not started by you. I only mentioned it because I really believe that this team this year represents something very rare. Going forward I might be proven wrong. I get it when someone wants to start a rumor or hold a position based on hearsay - the old where there is smoke there is fire - but with respect to Sale and any of his teammates where is the smoke? Maybe this is where some numbnut brings up Sale's cutting of the shirt incident. I like a good rumor and am not immune to gossip but there has to be something that at least makes me think that there might be something to the rumor before I believe it. This statement isn't directed at you at all Moon -
  23. Interesting perspective - you might be right. It very well might be that I saw what I wanted to see this year. A team made of very talented professionals willing to make individual sacrifices for the good of the team. I did not observe one situation that I thought resembled selfishness at all. Since no one really knows for sure, I'm very content to assume that my perspective is ok. Actually I'm really kind of surprised that anyone would think differently about this group.
  24. I absolutely miss not being able to sit down to a Sox game every evening. I'm having a hard time watching football. I'm a Giants. Plus there just isn't enough defense in the game today to keep me at all interested. I love me some Celtics but I can't stand the number of 3's that I see coming off the dribble in today's game. Oh well at least this off season will be a bit shorter than the last few.
