  1. I agree with you very much. Giving up regardless of the current or future impact has never been in my DNA. I don't have any of the answers with respect to how we go about acquiring the pitching that it takes to compete once again at the highest level but I have always chosen to support the people in charge. They know more than I do.
  2. had to read this. you sure that you didn't copy this from our resident president of the Ben Cherington fan club?
  3. Don't have time to read this yet notin but thanks for the response. I bet I'm going to like what you wrote! later my friend.
  4. hmmm - who was it that brought up Bennie's name just recently? I had all but forgotten about him too. Some people just can't seem to let the past go. I'm a history guy also though.
  5. "bout time don't you think - kind of boring around here lately! Someone needs to be the designated pain in the ass. lol
  6. ty - effect I was looking for.
  7. Well here you go - Just read what Chris Sale had to say and I will unequivocally say that anyone posting here who thinks for one minute that this man should not have been reupped is a jackass. You have no clue about what we have. Some of you think that you have so much knowledge about baseball in general which personally I kind of question. You can stick your chests out and rant about how much we overpaid for this old decrepit future HOFamer all you want. he will be back.. Oh and just for the record comparing dombrowski (man) to cherington(boy) is asinine.
  8. The worst thing that could happen to any major league franchise is to start losing their fan base. Yarding out younger players just because you want to see what they can do, goes against any realistic principle that coaches and players who have been successful have ever abided by. if they are good enough as in proven themselves at the lower levels they'll likely get their chance someday. if they are not better than those ahead of them, putting them out there out of curiosity i don't think would go over very well. Might be tolerable I guess for losing small market teams i guess.
  9. i did kind of think that you would get a kick out my Uranus statement.
  10. notin - had a hunch all along notin that you were kidding.
  11. Well i guess if you don't believe that, I would have to say that your head must at least be part way up Uranus.
  12. Oh i'm ok with anything you say Moon. I just am slightly opposed to all of these weird little statements people tend to make these days in an attempt to shove people into some sort of stereotype. How about this - even though I am quite conservative that doesn't mean that I am not liberal in my thinking. As for the intelligence part, not a problem. I'm pretty sure just as all of us likely are that i know where i stand with respect to the brightness scale. i just don't care to spend much time trying to convince people of my obvious superior intellect!
  13. I know right notin. A moron who truly believes that the earth is flat and maybe that we did not land on the moon is of course an accurate comparison to anyone who might think that our farm system isn't as bad as it has ever been - another big lol on that one. What I see is just another huge exaggeration to try to prove a very debatable issue through condescension once again. it is what we see in our world today - gross exaggeration which hopefully quiets those with opposing views. I would call it a genius move by not so genius people.
  14. Yup that would be me = a non cliff dwelling kind of guy. I'm just one of the numb nut guys who doesn't, hasn't and will never believe in something as unnatural to me as the cliff theory that has been promoted so often here. All the cliff theory believers can have a laugh at the expense of people like me. But come on we are the flat earth believers and not one of us has the IQ to rival the incredible minds posting here. Just to show how brilliant I feel the level of intellect on here is, let me add that what I have said in this post should not be taken seriously. LOL
  15. This is absolutely the way I see things. These guys are very well paid athletes and shutting them down now would be ridiculous. i could care less whether we are in or out of the playoffs, the best payers still should be on the field.
  16. new, naive, whatever - kind of the same thing - that's me I guess. How about this stunner for you - I absolutely think that having a dominant pitcher even if for one day per week will make the rest of this team way better. Confidence and the way you look at things in general makes a huge difference in my little world. I kind of felt the same way about the loss of Kimbrel even though it looked as though he had started to decline. Any good starting pitcher has to feel better if they have that guy on the backend who can pick you and the rest of the team up. having Sale underperform and not having that rare guy in the bullpen that everybody expects to get the job done has hurt this team more than the statistics indicate that it has. Unmeasurable things still make a difference. (in my little world - lol)
  17. ...and that's ok. Your choice of wording - "make Dombrowski look worse in my eyes" - implies to me that you didn't nor do you like him much. That is ok as well. I don't think that any normal person would be too excited about anyone signing a big contract and then not performing to the expected standards that they have set. I'm a Dombrowski supporter and a huge Sale fan obviously and I'm ok with that.
  18. Ain't that a fact! And the better news is that Sale finally got paid for what he has been and likely will continue to do for some time. We'll get to see now whether or not his performance last night has any carry over effect on the rest of the team. I do think just like you do that if these guys think that they have a legit stopper leading the way, they all might play better. Confidence makes a difference.
  19. I think that it is safe to say that we all have been and probably still are concerned about Sale's performance this year. He did look great last night though. Just one game but reason to really be hopeful. Obviously I am a huge Sale guy. There is nothing that I dislike about the guy. He works hard, he does not quit, and he owns it. I heard one criticism on here that disgusts me - the idea that his paycheck was somehow more important to him than the team's overall performance. (NOT BY YOU). IMO that is absolutely ridiculous. We are fortunate to have the future hall of fame on our side. Acquiring him was the price of doing business. No one should be at all concerned about the cost it took. it was the right thing to do at the right time to do it. No one repeat no one should be bitching about the affect it had on the farm system.
  20. Not sure really why anyone could think that shutting chris sale down would be a good idea. He has not pitched as he has in the past for sure but if he is healthy he still gets it done. He'll figure things out but if he doesn't he still is an asset for any team.
  21. pretty much i'd say pitching be it starter or bullpen is not simply about quantity.
  22. ty - gotta keep on movin on my friend.
  23. Cliff Claven maybe
  24. Sal Maglie
  25. I understand that I am a big time homer when it comes to this guy Hitch but I really just don't get it with some people. They flipped the switch and are ready to put this future Hall of Fame pitcher out to pasture. I say just give him some time and he'll figure things out. He is the purist type of gamer that everyone wants on their team. He is much tougher on himself than anyone posting here. From my front row seat it is a lot easier to criticize i guess than it is to compliment.
