  1. Some of us don't want to see him in left field because as an up and coming catcher his trade value is significantly higher than as an up and coming left fielder. What ever they do with him, it still could turn out ok. No one is going to be happy if he winds up being dealt for sure but if he is a part of a package, we will probably get a pretty good arm coming back our way.
  2. With Wright pitching the way he has, and Price looking more and more like Price is supposed to look, and the Red Sox competing the way they are, the sense of urgency to trade for a TOTRP isn't there today. The big picture is still clouded up. If Kelly can come back and pitch like he did last fall and Buchholz can just put up #4/#5 numbers things could still work out very well. I still think that DD will deal at some point but I think he will deal from a position of strength if he can. When a move is made, it is apt to be for someone very good and not someone expected to fill a temporarily created hole.
  3. It's what we are particularly here in northern N.E. Quick to react fans - particularly on a forum board. I think that JBJ was a little unusual because he had performed so well in the minors. There was always that little question mark. It didn't add up that he wouldn't be able to hit ml pitching at all. While most of us expected more from him, I don't think that many were willing to just give him away. It is just a good story right now.
  4. Just in case - so was I
  5. Seriously though - Benintendi is the real deal and has been for a while at every level he has played at. Hope he is isn't traded and gets a chance to play in Boston. If DD moves him, I will forever hold our current starting rotation responsible.
  6. Hey c'mon - With Benintendi moving on up, all we need to do is trade Pedroia (like someone here has suggested - who was that guy?) and we open up a spot for Moncada as well! lol
  7. It is just too bad. s*** luck hits us again. We better hope that Kelly's last AAA start is what we might be seeing out of him for an extended time. you never know.
  8. i think that he might be healthy for the first time in a while. he has some good talent.
  9. glad to see hernandez moving back up. i've followed this kid for two years and he ain't bad. think he has potential that no one has seen yet. i don't think that he is destined to be just a utility guy either. Maybe for somebody else but i think he will surprise when he gets a real shot.
  10. I understand your point . I was in no way commenting on whether signing him was right or wrong.
  11. Hey - whatever - he is ours for sure. I just thought that it was an extremely unique way of trying to explain that in light of what he has done this year, he is still earning his money. His stats have been horrendous - he has to stay away from those bad innings - and he is an injury risk! if that is what his next resume says and he gets 13 million for it, good for him. Now, he may turn it around and he may not. I'm ok with him because I consider him to be a number 4 or 5 starter. He at this time is just not earning his money.
  12. his stats have been horrendous - he needs to avoid those bad innings-he is also an injury risk- but he is still worth 13 million dollars (only)- really???
  13. I like Ockimey as well. It is fun to watch these guys develop. In the case of these 3 prospects, common sense combined with posted results tells us quite a bit. We saw them in the spring and unless something dramatic has happened since everything seems to be pointing in the same direction. They just don't seem like borderline prospects for the next move up.
  14. Hernandez, Travis, and Swihart with big days yesterday. Travis with two homers. Good to see Swihart starting to hit.
  15. I agree that there is no need to rush these young guys along but there is always the fine line as to what level is best for them to be playing at. You reach a point where you really aren't doing their potential progress any good if they aren't challenged at the appropriate level. The success might make everybody feel good but it doesn't amount to anything. If Moncada and Dubon continue to perform the way they have been, I think that they get moved fairly soon.
  16. Thankfully there doesn't seem to be a major need for anything more than what they have right now in terms of a left fielder. I would sure as hell hate to see any kind of trade for a journeyman outfielder acquired to just hold a spot for awhile. We get that job done from within. Castillo, Swihart (as much as I hate to see him used out there) would make a lot more sense to me. If DD decides to trade for an outfielder, I don't think he will be playing small ball. That should make all the people who hate the use of the bunt happy. lol
  17. He could be on his way soon. Dubon as well possibly.
  18. Had to happen. He won't be the last one to move up either. Gives a good reason to go to Portland.
  19. What he has meant to the game of baseball, fans of the Sox, New England in general sets a bar so high possibly no one will get to it again. He is what he is - genuine. Oh, by the way, roughly half of hi hits have been extra base hits. First ballot - HOF
  20. it would sure help Portland if some of these guys were to move up.
  21. The answer may be very obvious to you , me, as well as others here but you can pretty much figure that if the Angels decide to try to deal Trout ( which they very well might) the Red Sox will get involved. The cost might very well prove to be to great but to just cast out the possibility of having him because we don't need another outfielder would be silly. He is that good. You have to at least explore the possibility. Based on past history, you have to think that DD would.
  22. That 's one of the things that is really nice about those seats.
  23. Agree - He still has value to them and to us. They keep playing him in left field and he keeps hitting at a .217 pace, his value as a trade chip is basically gone. Leave him alone, let him catch (just catch) and he might even be able to help us down the line. One year, two years, who knows. he needs to learn how to catch.
  24. Sorry Ted - it is my son-in-laws night tonight. His mojo puts mine to sleep though. He was ready to go. Second son-in-law next Friday. Hope they get it in tonight. thanks again. We will be going next.
  25. If a trade is made, I'm guessing that it will be a blockbuster for young already somewhat proven potentially great players. We are in a great position right now. Lots of young talent. I don't know whether they identify a specific pitcher or player in general going forward or not. Lots of options. At the beginning of spring training I would have bet on Encarnarcion being in Boston and dhing for us next year. Now, I don't know. Where do we need help right now - pitching and possibly left field. It just looks as though that we have an abundance of potentially pretty good prospects on the way. We may get some incredible offers. I don't think that we are going to get screwed.
