  1. devers command is commanding too - lol (just folding around)
  2. you damn well know that Farrell will find some positive spin for horrible base running mistakes. A 2 run game and that idiot does that.
  3. I'm pretty sure if they sat him down he could figure it out. Nothing works like playing time. I don't care how good he is or thinks he is - he ain't sitting for those mistakes - he ain't gonna stop making them.
  4. That play would have gotten me benched regardless of how many hits I had gotten. Absolutely stupid attempt on a groundball in front of you.
  5. One more time for Barfield as well- my oh my. You never know where the real help is going to come from.
  6. There is no question about this. Trading away what amount to as surplus players who for the most part would never play in Boston, might be questionable I guess if they garnered 0 in return. For the most part, we did ok. We continue even today to have payers stockpiled in our system who could very likely play for some other teams.
  7. Chavis going deep today as well?
  8. I do think that you are a die hard Sox fan and I respect what you say. Like reading what you post. I don't really know if I see things differently than anyone else but to me any debate over what any GM has or hasn't done is pointless. They are kind of like principals of a school - far to much credit when things go well - and probably much too much blame when things don't work out. I do honestly feel that if John henry continues to own this team, he will do what is necessary to put people in the seats. i really don't think he worries much about 3-4 year windows or cliffs or whatever. Obviously there will be some obstacles that will need to be dealt with as there have always been but I will be very surprised if monetary issues of any kind will present a stop sign to this franchise under his leadership. For what it is worth, if Pomeranz continues to do what he has done, I would be very surprised if they don't try to reup him. It is all good here though Moon - you have been good for this forum and give us plenty of material to comment on.
  9. and what bothers some posters ( i might be the only one ) is that this whole idea of a "3 year window" has been even a created concept. I do not believe that there is nor will there be any such thing. Before you force feed ( don't take that personally) me your stats that you and some think might prove your point, let it suffice to say that I am not buying it. I do not see DD's moves as going for broke. i do not see them as panic or desperation moves and I do not think that he left our system bankrupt. It is all in what you believe and quite possibly what you want to see. I might be the only one here who thinks this way and that is ok too. I see his moves as being calculated and rational with a healthy dose of common sense added in to the mix.
  10. Hope I'm not wrong about this one Slasher. I'm going to have to go read the rule.
  11. Oh man - How about Fergie Jenkins?
  12. moon really - this is not the real you. This thread isn't about gaining points for supporting the GM of your choice. who cares whose deals were better? ok - maybe I know the answer to my question but this isn't about GMs. You are are fan of the Sox just like I am. GM's come and go - players come and go and we are still here. I care a lot more about the players than I do about the GMs and the announcers and so do you. At the times of the 3 deals that you brought up, the only one I was opposed to was Ramirez. Imagine that! He is still here. lol I'm a fan and I will support him because it looks to me as though he understands the importance of being competitive year after year after year ..... but when he is gone someone will take his place and I will still be here. i have a very healthy heart- you will be here as well. Maybe we need a "Dan Duquette wasn't too bad either" thread.
  13. If he continues to hit, I would hope that they would call him up. He doesn't meet the height requirement at 5'10 but at 210+, he probably would do. lol
  14. c'mon - go with your gut. I'm hoping (maybe against hope) that Farrell's challenge was that jackson did not maintain possession of the ball when the fence got in his way. Think about the number of times you have seen players go into the stands to make plays either in fair of foul territory. Not talking Jeter here though. Doesn't make any difference where your ass is when you make that catch as long as you hang on to it. Gomes must have been dreaming about his football days.-lol
  15. Although I am probably a bigger fan of DD's than yours, I appreciate very much that are valuing what he has and is trying to do. Being in his position in a Boston market, it is quite a balancing act. His job yearly is to put a team on the field that can compete at the highest level year in and year out. I haven't agreed with everything that he has or has not done, I still think that he has built a very competitive team without mortgaging the future. I am looking forward to a long successful run like we have had minus a few hiccups since 1967.
  16. Actually, i really like Johnny Gomes and I loved what he brought to our team. He does have some good insights but he made me a little nervous last night when he wasn't sure about the ruling on Jackson's over the fence catch of Ramirez's drive. A little laugh for me on that one. I'm guessing that most of us who have played knew the ruling on that one. I still like him though.
  17. I understand that. I should have been a little clearer. I'm not advocating any move up for Chavis. I would just hate to see a compact, rugged individual who can actually hit the ball hard be traded. My other point would be that I think it is kind of obvious that the age of these prospects gets too much attention by some who post here. If we have players who are over performing at the minor league level and there is room for them up here and they aren't teenagers, they are old enough to get a shot.
  18. Little fellas help big fellas win games. Guess I would take EE's 6'1"-230 and be quite happy with it.
  19. I know right!- Why would anyone put a guy that can hit like Nunez has been in the 3 hole? What a waste of rbi production.
  20. he might be ml ready right now at the plate!
  21. I agree with you. I haven't been to Portland this year but I was stunned at seeing the difference in size between ours and theirs last year. One of the reasons Moncada looked like such a monster, was the rest of the troops looked so small. I was really surprised at how small Benintendi looked.
  22. Too old - too feisty - too miserable - too Scottish
  23. He did when i saw him against Detroit. Seeing him throw like he did that night, you really could see the potential that he had. Good to see him realizing it.
  24. I don't want to!!!
