  1. I bet we agree on this - He plays for us and we are damn happy he does!
  2. Moon - I just don't see his losing games or pitching worse I guess as the season goes along as meaning that he is definitely fatigued. I understand totally that that is the theory that people are going to hang their hats on. Might be right. Every player in the game could use a little rest right now. If anything, I think that that velo chart says that he ain't losing because he is wearing out physically. Maybe - but that is just a guess -
  3. Ma Nature is going to have her way with him I think. I heard so many times before and after the trade how his arm slot and delivery in general would lead to all sorts of arm issues. Until something really happens, I'm going with the theory that this is who he is. he has had a fairly reliable career to date. He has such great stuff I think that we expect him to win everytime he gets to the mound. I know I do - He is must watch tv for me when most things on tv suck.
  4. Thanks for the info. If I'm not reading the chart incorrectly, there really was only one early season game - one other maybe in which his fastball appeared to be a little slower than last night. I understand the concern about him getting fatigued, I just don't see that as the current issue right now.
  5. I posted earlier that if he looked fatigued at all last night, I must have missed it. Pomeranz maybe - his velocity was noticeably down. Sale not so much. Looked like there were a number of pitches that just caught the k zone if they had been called strikes things might have gone differently. His stuff looked just as nasty last night to me as it has all season. He go hit and that is it. Happens .
  6. Makes you wonder doesn't it - Why would Red Sox management not pay attention to this forum? We got answers to all problems.
  7. It's just the way it has been all year. They have scratched along just well enough to get it done. Injuries, poor performances, bad defense, s***** base running, a lousy manager, under performances by supposed super stars, and more injuries, and somehow this team is still in first place. Enjoy the ride I say!
  8. I must have missed something last night as I was watching Sale pitch. The part I guess where he was supposed to look tired out and fatigued and in need of rest. He had if anything more velocity on his fastball than he has recently. Looked pretty strong to me. Toronto hit the ball. Give them credit.
  9. I think that Pomeranz did look tired.
  10. I know what he did but I really don't anything at all about the circumstances. When you are that good and you are playing for a suck franchise it must have been driving him crazy. We have had a chance to see this guy up close and personal. Looks to me like he is all about the winning. I'm sure that he likes his paycheck but I don't think that that is what drives him. Just like Kimbrel - two guys that just work. They want the ball when it is all on the line. We are fortunate.
  11. My vote probably goes to Votto. I'm not to hung up about the age of this guy. I enjoyed watching him play this weekend.
  12. I'm still going with Willie Mays from the right side and Ted from the left.
  13. Physically it looks to me as though E-Rod should be able to occupy the 3 hole if not be a solid #2. He is broad and strong. We will see how he matures mentally.
  14. Thanks for clearing things up. i still think that the picture with this pitching staff is pretty unclear though. I think that they are pretty good and that is about it. After Sale it gets pretty tough to label any of them I think.
  15. lol So should I!!!
  16. I think that you might be right but I still don't agree with his statement. I don't think that he represents a #4 #5 starter at all anytime. I really think that for the most part you can just throw a hat over E-Rod, Ricky P., and the Pom Pom. One might even go so far as to say weren't we fortunate that our #3#4 guy from last year won a Cy Young. I don't care what number anyone gives to our starters, in this day and age any pitcher with 16 wins ain't looking too bad.
  17. Yes I do remember that. That is why we all have to be a little careful with the judgemental comments I think . I'm as a guilty as the next guy of making them but I'm going to try to keep my future comments directed at what I actually see on the field.
  18. Oh I will try Max - I must have misunderstood what he was saying when he wrote that in his opinion Fox was the greatest right handed hitter of all time. For me, as much as I really didn't care for how he played the game, I would still go with Manny. Willie gets my vote for the greatest of all time.
  19. ok - give me the list - how many teams in ml baseball have a #4 or #5 starter who has accumulated 16 wins?
  20. 28 - still a kid yes. i get your frustration with him tonight. I'm not so sure that he is quite as bad as you make him out to be. hard to believe that we are about to win the east with this pitching staff that you are so frustrated with Max. I think that your reaction might be a little over the top.
  21. Fox a better hitter than M. Ramirez/Mays/Aaron?
  22. left a few things out but still pretty good - unimportance(as in never to be used) of the bunt, hit and run, insignificance of a pitcher's won lost record... lol
  23. I think that your opinion is worth a lot when it comes to talking baseball as opposed to probability. I like these types of discussions. They are about the actual game as opposed to what the statistical data says the optimal batting order should be. It is a good old baseball discussion.
  24. I do agree that it was a weird play for sure!
  25. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you about Vazquez playing that one by the book. No runners on base of course he goes down that line. Runners on base not so much. I'm not criticizing him for going after a bad throw but backing up first base on a groundball with runners on the base paths is not a fundamental part of his job. He might head that way with a runner on first but he has to know where everybody is on that fielld. That play is entirely in front of him.
