  1. All the way! Always liked him though - just want a little more hitting. Honestly that catch today was as good a catch as I have seen a player make. And I have seen many great players make many great catches. This one was special.
  2. I have nothing against Holt but this is about putting your best team on the field. Lin looks like he can help us. I'm glad that our injuries have been small to date but I have to say our depth looks better than good. Very happy for Swihart as well today.
  3. Imagine you and I being on the same exact page. How about a little more help dealing with Harmony next time.lol There is a huge difference in knowing a lot of things about the game and actually knowing its intricacies. harmony will have to google "how to slide" and some of us here actually know the game.
  4. I thought that too but it was Swihart I saw in the dugout after he scored.
  5. This is so accurate. There is absolutely no question about the foot being in the air and aimed at Holt.
  6. Ok Slasher after the play I just saw JBJ make , I'm done talking about whether he needs to hit any better or not. He is just too much fun to watch in the field plus he will get his hits.
  7. that is as good a play as i think can be made!
  8. You certainly are trying to make this sound educated but sadly most of this falls squarely within the confines of something that most of us would consider ********. When a baserunner initiates contact with his spikes up - that is not something that just accidentally happens.
  9. I think that an interpretation of that particular slide just depends on how we saw it. The view I got from the left field camera left no doubt in my mind that the spikes were up , they were no where near the bag,and they were directly in line with Holt's leg. Maybe Austin was hoping that Holt would avoid his cleats. I kind of wish that I saw it differently because I'm going to have a hard time looking at this kid as anything other than a punk from now on. Kind of how I look at Machado I guess.
  10. Harmony - take note that is how you slide into second base
  11. somebody said earlier that JBJ wa keeping his head on the ball. Not seeing that. JD keeps his head on the ball.
  12. I'm with you here as is just about everybody else although I can't give a free pass to Natick to NC - lol - you shouldn't be able to change your mind about something that quickly. (sarcasm again NC - lol)
  13. he kind of lost it here don't you think when he said pink hat types - I don't really know that that expression has much meaning but I'm pretty sure that we aren't it whatever it is! I think that the bullpen will ultimately be ok once things get sorted out. Maybe Johnson winds up out there. I will say though that if the emphasis is going to be on trying to limit pitchers to just a few over or under 100 pitches, then the bullpen is going to be stressed most of the time. Just getting through 6 solid innings looks good for our guys for the most part I think.
  14. I think that this is a great post! It is an angle I certainly have not thought of. Harmony has repeatedly tried to paint Kelly as the primary villain here. If people want to think that possibly Austin went into that bag not having the primary purpose being to nail Holt with his spikes up then I guess when Kelly says he did not intentionally hit Austin and that the pitch just got away with him it is just as easily believable as well. No one I hope wants to see these guys injured this way, but as is normally the case there will be more than side to most stories. I like yours the best!
  15. I just heard a good one from an old timer (tough old timer) from New York down here yesterday. Bouton came from the same town he grew up in. He said he was a weird dude when he was young. He used to get beat up by his buddies on a regular basis. I made the mistake of calling my friend a Yankee fan - He corrected me quickly - doesn't like them - He was a Brooklyn fan!
  16. Like i said - who has said that we should trade this guy right now? Maybe I'm giving people too much credit but I don't see anybody really advocating for that. There are a lot of people here including me who aren't happy with his continued lack of hitting. I'm just saying that there are a couple of posters who just want to keep cranking it up by saying that there are a pant load of people who want him gone right now - that is not the case. Natick to NC - hope you see this post. It's a good thing this forum is a fantasy world and we get to change our minds when it suits us. lol SARCASM
  17. I wonder if that is how Buck looks everyday when he gets up
  18. The point being made is not whether the slide was interpreted as being ok under the current rule or not. It is whether or not the slide was ethically acceptable or not. i guess the Red Sox felt that it was not. I agree with the home team on this one. I guess if a guy slides directly across the bag, he can get away with it. In this case, it was pretty obvious that he did not. He went directly at Holt with spikes up.
  19. I agree with you - I've seen a lot worse and I bet we all have. My whole bitch is that that is not a method of sliding that is taught anywhere in the world. If it is , it is being taught by idiots. When the spikes are up and do not contact the bag there is only one intention and it isn't good. He gets tossed right then and no one gets thrown at. If they truly are trying to protect these guys then that's what has to be done. For the record for perhaps the tenth time, I do not like the rule.
  20. oh yeah - he was my main man as a kid growing up!
  21. and that is all that needs to be said.
  22. he's probably back next Tuesday. You trying to take a sensible approach on here these days is just not acceptable. Now we get to see the Price haters at work once again. Maybe we just have too much good pitching right now to think that a guy we just don't like could ever help us. lol
  23. Give me a little Argentina Rocca and we really will be talking good stuff.
  24. thats good really good but I'm more inclined to actually listen and believe what Kimbrel has to say about pitching in the 9th as opposed to anything data driven might have to add.
