  1. Have fun out there!
  2. me too - can't believe it
  3. IMO - Professional athletes should never be subjected to the kinds of questions he was asked in one of the news conferences that I listened to. People in news media constantly over step the bounds of common decency in a warped effort to create news where more often than not there is no news. I am a lifelong Boston Celtic fan so i bet you can guess where my heart lies when the question of who is the greatest come up. Sorry Larry - you come in second for me. I have to say though I have not seen any player in the last 56 years who is able to affect a game as much as this man. The only one who even comes close is Wilt. I say this knowing quite well that this is apt to stir the feelings of the MJ fans. Oh well.
  4. JD should certainly hit either third or fourth. You want to assure you get him up in the first inning, he hits third.
  5. This one troubles me. He comes back, plays a game or two, and winds up on the 10 day. We need him. He has been a hell of a player for a long time. If he was playing today or tomorrow, I guess you could chalk it up to him just being sore but this one just doesn't feel right. I'm not into the "he came back too soon" ******** either. I'm just wondering if he can actually come back at all due to what he has been through.
  6. With respect to Chris Sale, it is always disappointing when the guy you expect to never lose struggles a bit. I like him anytime against anyone at anytime during the season.
  7. Lebron does come off as unlikeable particularly so since he doesn't play for our side.
  8. I agree with you here. I am not into the conspiracy crap at all. That is for others. I do not particularly like this version of the NBA much myself. Tends to de-emphasize the concept of team as opposed to the individual. I did enjoy watching my beloved Celtics make this run though.
  9. I mentioned where Altuve hits in the batting order on another thread. It seems clear to me that there are plenty of ml people who still like to have their run producers hitting 3-4-5. I have heard all of the arguments for not having your best hitter batting third for a couple of years now. There are many people that think that your very best hitter should be your leadoff guy but what I have not heard is what defines your very best hitter. With respect to Mookie, I think that if he is comfortable in the leadoff spot and wants to be there, I think that you go with that. It is possible that he could produce more runs hitting somewhere else but he is good enough to have some input I think with respect to where he bats in the lineup.
  10. Pretty soon we get to start hearing about how tired Chris Sale looks and how much rest he is going to need in order for him to pitch well come playoff time. Skip a few starts or maybe go to a 6 or 7 man rotation. Not! He likely will never make everybody here happy but he is going to be fine as long as he is healthy.
  11. can you believe it - Altuve hitting third - wow
  12. What is the criteria that defines who or what the best hitter is? Can your best rbi guy be your best or how about the guy who hits for the best average or maybe the guy who just hits bombs. Is it the player who has the best combination of every available stat? If the last one is the case then it looks like Mookie gets the nod. If he is happy hitting leadoff, then that is where he should hit. I like and I am certainly not the only one who feels this way my rbi guys hitting 3-4-5.
  13. I'm not sure that moving him to the 2 spot in the lineup was intended to prove or show us anything. I don't take that move as evidence that his release was solely because of his vesting option. Maybe their decision had already kind of been made. I don't know but I don't ever read too much into these types of things. If someone thinks that the vesting option was the absolute only opinion that he was released, so be it. I would like to know how they know this. The overall sentiment seems to be that it was a good decision and I guess that that is really all that matters.
  14. The vesting option certainly had something to do with it but not everything. Other factors compounded by the vesting option I think. Anyone who truly claims that they know otherwise is just stating an opinion. I'm still going to believe that if he been hitting he would still be here. He wasn't and he is gone.
  15. Hey - I don't know about you but I'm perfectly happy with the way I remember things whether I'm right or wrong. For instance - Fred Lynn the greatest cf in the history of the franchise - 1967 without doubt the greatest single season any ml has ever had (Yaz) Bill Russell - the greatest winner in the history of the NBA and the guy who I would have in the middle of my lineup surrounded by 4 other guys that someone thinks were greater than he was. (one of them being Larry of course) Jack Nicklaus the greatest professional golfer of all time. My memory does its job for me even though no one takes me to seriously. forgot to mention Johnny Most (my greatest announcer). Screw the brainiacs who have the data that proves me wrong. lol As for this thread - of course we do not trade JBJ - he is just getting going.
  16. cool - thank you MVP. I am particularly interested in having the opportunity to spot a bigfoot. I'll let you know how the search goes.
  17. the Bridgewater triangle??? Like to see that one - be down there Sunday !
  18. Bamba is 20 years old. he is light for a kid that is what 6"11- 220 I think. What is good about him is his athleticism. He can run and he jumps out of the building. he is for sure a project and probably is not an actual Ainge target. He is a defender and a shot blocker for sure right now. He is not Manute Boll! Like I said - he might not be in the Celtic future but he sure as s*** isn't chump change either. Some team who wants size may very well wind up with a good one here.
  19. We'll likely never get much more of a story than we have already gotten. I'm fine with that. If Hanley had been hitting for power, got to think he would still be here and playing most everyday. Don't think that Mr Henry was concerned at all about another 20+ million if it was translating in to a title.
  20. Very true. Kind of comes right down to what a team needs. Not sure what Ainge is apt to do. Maybe nothing but I doubt that. Both Rozier and Brown are likely to be playing fewer minutes next year if they are bout here. it is going to possibly be an interesting off season.
  21. Do they close that bar when the game begins?
  22. Celtics have interest in Mo Bamba - very interesting. You can't coach height.
  23. I agree with you here. I was really hoping that we might catch a glimpse of what Hanley has accomplished in the past. Looked to me as though he was working out there as hard as anybody. I hope he does and think that he probably will catch on with somebody. Can't imagine why he wouldn't.
  24. Ramirez is what a 13 year verteran who for the most has not had to sit down a whole lot. I don't care who it is, you sit a guy like this down for any stretch of time if he still feels that he can play and issues might arise. If this wasn't a concern that at least someone might have been thinking about, why wouldn't they just sit this happy little camper on the bench and use him every now and again in hopes that his magic might return. Not sure how he would have reacted if it became apparent that his option wasn't going to vest because he was sat but it is possible that it would not have been nicely. He was simply released which is what many here have been calling for. His release has nothing to do with what he looks like or the way he wears his hair or his particular life choices. Unbelieveable that that that garbage was even brought up.
