  1. I thought it was dicey too but I also understand why it was called an error. The ball was actually in Semien's glove and popped out at the last second where he bobbled it a few more times before the ball finally hit the ground. I also agree with Emp9 and he is correct on the rule of being able to use the grass to avoid the tag by the fielder.
  2. Yeah Manaea was nails tonight and then some. He definitely earned it.
  3. That is what got me was the fact Benintendi was able to dive and still reach the 1B bag rather easily and he did. Most of his body was still in the running lane. It's not like he took a huge wide turn like you do on a routine base hit. Its tough but its not the worst call I've seen by far.
  4. The one time in the game where I felt the Red Sox got the short end of the stick and it was that play. There was nothing else Beni could have done to avoid the tag other than to truck the guy with the ball. It's a tough way to have a hit taken off the board.
  5. I guess what I don't understand is some failing to give Manaea credit for throwing like a monster tonight. The kid was great.
  6. Well, I guess the Red Sox will have to settle to go 159-3 this season. Doom and gloom all around.
  7. Congrats to Sean Manaea. The kid was terrific all game long and is absolutely deserving.
  8. His offspeed stuff has been ridiculous tonight.
  9. Gave it a ride but just not enough.
  10. For those who haven't been humbled yet, getting no hit will humble your ass in a hurry.
  11. No, not a bum. We've seen flashes of what he could do in the last few season's and now he's really coming into his own. This kid is good.
  12. I don't think any Red Sox fan on this board wants to see us get no-hit tonight. I don't but Manaea has dominated from the very beginning. Still have a few outs left to break the no-hit bid up but Manaea has earned it if he finishes it.
  13. I honestly think Manaea is going to finish with a no-hitter. His stuff has been great tonight and he's painting the difficult portions of the strike zone to hit and he's done it all night long.
  14. The season is 162 games. It's a marathon, not a sprint. The Red Sox will have times when they struggle and every team will go through it as the season goes along. Like Cora said, stay hungry and stay humble. If you get beat, turn around and go back to work in the next game.
  15. In all the A's have just been better. Manaea has out pitched sale and the A's lineup has made Sale pay for mistakes pretty much all game. These night's happen but at least find a way to break up the no-hitter.
  16. The A's hitters are all over Sale tonight. Sale even buried that pitch and Chapman still was able to muscle the ball off the wall.
  17. What a play by Lin!! My god the dude has a cannon for an arm.
  18. Didn't like it either. I'm not sure what in the hell Beni is supposed to do because with an outstretched arm taking away the entire runner's lane, I guess you just have to allow yourself to get tagged. The runner still has to be allowed to avoid the tag in a reasonable fashion and Beni did that. The only other option was for Beni to run the player over.
  19. There's nowhere for Beni to go and takes the hit away.....wow that is a s***** way to keep the no-hitter in tact.
  20. LOL.....our first hit maybe an infield single!
  21. One thing is for sure, Manaea has done a great job of mixing up his pitches and speeds. Red Sox hitters just have not got a good read on him so far and Sale isn't fooling anybody tonight.
  22. I agree. It's a tough ruling but Semien actually had that ball caught but he just couldn't hold on.
  23. Manaea has been very good tonight. Tough ruling on the error but I'm not totally against it. Simien had to run a long way to make the catch.
  24. The last Manea fastball has some sneaky late life to it. Hanley just couldn't stay with it.
