  1. I know it's not really related to the game, but it is NYY.. This cheered me up a bit.
  2. I guess he has more time on his hands now that he isn't starting at 3B anymore.
  3. I am inclined to agree, yet the sox did win a lot of games early in the season before Ortiz was ready. Then again the team had Buch at that point too.
  4. My bad, he was a starter that day, for some reason I thought he was pinch hitting when he hit that slam.
  5. Here's another stat for you: Napoli has 158 Ks in 403 ABs this season. Second to that is Salty with 114 in 329. The only one close to that is Stephen Drew and he hasn't even broken 100 Ks yet.
  6. Carp really needs more ABs.. He's proven he can hit, he's hit well in his limited playing time.. He just needs more starts to prove what he can really do, plus he couldn't hurt this lineup any more than Napoli could.
  7. I think his point has been closer to what everyone else's has been: You can't predict how someone is going to pitch the following year. Koji could be lights out in the closer role again or he could get injured, or suck it up so bad they have to stick him in garbage time innings... Just look at guys like Jordan Walden, dude was insane in 2011.. Have you heard his name much since? I haven't. Take a look at Fernando Rodney, he was virtually unhittable last year, now he's pretty much an average reliever. They're just saying go with the live arm, if Koji is still pitching like he is, by all means stay with him. If he's not, give someone else a shot.
  8. The Sox have a lot of Yankees down the stretch, with the exception of Kuroda, most of those games should be fairly easy for the sox.. Cruising into the playoffs.
  9. Considering the team needs are 1B and SP seemingly, I'm not really sure what kind of pieces they could get for a reliever.
  10. Just goes to show you the inconsistency that is major league relief pitching. Rodney has a straight up lights-f***ing-out 2012, and now he's a fairly average reliever again.
  11. With as many posters as there are now, there should be some kind of system to keep from confusion
  12. Hopefully the future is more PH grand slams.
  13. Mike Napoli has almost as many strikeouts as Carp has at-bats. In 165 ABs Carp is hitting .309/.370/.564 with 29R 29RBI 2 triples, 14 doubles, and 8HRs... I think they should be platooning him in at 1b a lot more right now.
  14. If they don't resign Nap, and WMB starts to hit better, it wouldn't be a terrible idea to split carp and wmb both at 1b.
  15. I'd say with a right handed platoon partner, and some more ABs yes. Even if they resign Napoli, I think Carp needs to get more playing time at 1b, and when he's not at 1b you can still slot him in at LF or even DH given the need for other players to grab some rest.
  16. Isn't there some kind of order or chain of command for posting GT's anyhow? I'm surprised we don't see a lot of double posts, especially with the new posters doing GTs now too.
  17. As everyone has been saying, Ellsbury will probably get the big bucks elsewhere.. so why not sign Choo for RF and slot Vic in center until JBJ is ready? Or get JBJ some time in left.. I'd rather see the sox go after Brian McCann instead of Salty again. Kendrys Morales is okay but still kinda ugh, I'd say Mike Morse or Justin Morneau if they're available. Koji would be worth 10M. Hanrahan could probably be had for a QO, but not league min.
  18. How did britton get charged with a blown save...
  19. "Lester is not looking particularly sharp here in the first inning." wonder how many times that's been said this season
  20. What's the guess on how many runs Dempster puts up tomorrow?
  21. Why didn't they have Workman start and have Wright come out of the pen tonight.. I wonder if starting he wouldn't have earned 6 runs tonight.
  22. Gomes beard should be considered a PED
