  1. Come on guys, let's not get any thumb injuries from angry typing on here, I doubt the front office would let you get an MRI.
  2. I suppose if (when) Bailey goes down, we could always call up Foulke.
  3. The injury will have a new name and everything: The Cherington "Aww man, the doctor says I pulled a Cherington in my thumb!"
  4. Since Aceves will be in for Beckett's first start, I would assume that Cook is at least the 7 man in depth. So if Cook doesn't opt out, we'll see more of him if Bard collapses.
  5. I wonder if the media mantra is going to shift from chicken and beer to "thumbs up their asses"
  6. Here's what's going to go down: Lucchino: "Carpenter sucks, we want someone else." Epstein: "Lol no." Selig: /shrug
  7. True, he still looked great up until that point, and he did get out of a jam. Now Melancon on the other hand.....
  8. ..and just like that Bard isn't doing so hot now.
  9. Apparently Ross is a homerun machine right now. Let's hope that bat stays hot for awhile.
  10. I hate being blacked out for certain games on mlb.tv
  11. As long as Beckett stays consistent with last year's performance, and not his typical odd year even year performances like history suggests, then the rotation isn't AS thin as we might think. The retreads could hold up, and if they don't, there are plenty of options there. They may not be the best options, but it beats the hell out of the options we had last season.
  12. I'm liking Ross as well, too bad he isn't a left handed hitter, or we could platoon him with DMac instead of Sweeney.
  13. Following that observation, I think it's possible that he gives us 200 innings of 3 ERA baseball.
  14. I have a lot more confidence in Doubront starting than Cook. Even though it's spring training, Cook has pitched to a .167 BAA and .86 WHIP in 9.1 innings. I'd like to see more of him, but I agree, he should go down to AAA a little bit to get some more work in. Bard I'm worried about somewhat, I do think that he has the stuff to be a starter, but I think he needs more time to work on his control and selection before he starts facing major league hitters in the regular season.
  15. Anyone playing any leagues on ESPN or any other sites? I'd like to get in a fantasy league with some of the fine people here, so if you have one and need a spot, hit me up!
  16. Currently it's Andrew Miller. I guess it's because I've been a Miller hopeful for awhile. I still think that he could be a good pitcher, but he just hasn't been able to stay consistent.
  17. I still think defense is important. If we were to trade shoppach for a pitcher, and keep lavarnway on the roster, I wouldn't hate the move. Begs the question though, what about defense?
  18. Good point. as long as he can keep up the consistency he has recently, stay healthy, and provide some quality innings, I'm all for it. He does seem to be a better option than some of the other guys we have in the pen right now.
  19. At least the bullpen isn't looking terrible. If one of Bard or Aceves stays in the pen, the late innings shouldn't be so bad. Hopefully the rotation can hold it down though.
  20. Not saying I don't agree. He has done well in the pen for Boston, despite having a 7.80 ERA in Baltimore back in 09 while pitching relief. If he can give us several innings of 0.00 ERA ball again this season, color me stoked. I don't expect it to happen, however. With a career ERA of 4.73, he'll earn some runs soon enough.
  21. Well by that account, I guess we'd better expect Doubront and Cook to get their asses handed to them soon. Honestly I do wonder how long it would take before that happened. I'm still completely surprised Cook is even in the mix, and that he's actually done as well as he has so far.
