  1. a) he has been paid very year for his worth that year...so nothing is owed to him How do you know that the Achilles is not "that" big of a problem? If the figure that was given out of $25/2yrs is correct, then even David knows he is not worth what he thought he was last year during negotiations. He wouldn't even look at that figure
  2. If the Sox were determined that they NOT give him two years last year, why would they do so when he has the injury and he is getting older...does not make sense? That is why I think DO has put it out there that he will take what he supposedly did not want last year..the decrease in salary for two years. We do not know what the RS have offered
  3. Apparently, this was not the year of the outspoken manager
  4. Agree that it very well could be the agent. The main thing would be to let the fanbase know that DO has cut back on his demands. The $25mil/2 yr was on the table last year and he was not interested at all. Now he is willing to go there.....what a great guy...the RS should snatch him up with a compromise offer like that.
  5. My belief is that Edes' source was David himself. The Red Sox were involved with the Farrell celebration and with three hours, they are "leaking" the Ortiz signing?? Do NOT think so
  6. So how much of the money he had signed for to play did he give back?? Anybody see that figure listed anywhere....oh wait....he gave back nothing
  7. I always find the small things interesting. The other four guys were interviewed in such a way that the media all saw them walking in and walking out. Farrell has his private meeting over Chinese food at LL's house. I wondered why we never saw him at an interview before he was announced. Do you think the other four thought that their interviews were nothing more than a cover.
  8. Odd time to make this announcement...on what was John Farrell's day. Bet it did NOT come from the RS FO.....maybe DO's back yard
  9. I saw part of it. I do not know if the three owners were there..I just saw Ben doing his intrduction..boring as usual. The owners may have come in at some point, but I was surprisedf to see that the three of them and Ben were not spread across the podium
  10. The Yankees do not need him...they have enough of their own old guys
  11. Apparently the RS and John Farrell thought that this is a good idea.....2 years without knowing if his 37 year old body has recovered from his injury. It does not sound like a good idea to me. Doesn't the insurance company have to approve any hirings to make sure there is no health issues they will get stuck for. I am thinking about Schilling when Theo brougbht him back for several million dollars. There was a shoulder issue and Schilling never threw one pitch, kept the money and the RS were on the hook for the money since he had been rejected by the insurance company
  12. I am sure he doesn't want to come...but rather gives thanks every day that he was traded
  13. Scutero= MVP...amazing
  14. I am not sure that there is a PR concern for signing or not signing him. Youk was a big fan favorite ( who else had their own chant from the stands when he came up) and there was no huge outcry when he was sent packing. Right now I see no reason to sign him for even a year until it is seen that he can still play, having totally recovered from his injury and even then not for huge money.
  15. I am guessing because of treatment DO has stayed in Boston rather than going to the DR. Because he has been around, there have been too many stories about his re-signing. Supposedly there have been talks with the FO even though nobody knows if he recovered from his injury. Would you sign him now, wait until he demonstrates that he has his strength back or let him go because of the huge money he wants?
  16. It is a three year contract
  17. There were a few familiar faces in the post season ....too many. I am sure Scut thanked heaven every night that he got traded.
  18. I have to agree with you on this. The talk has been that the top boys have been working this deal, with Cher around to come up with compensation.
  19. I have nothing personal against JF. I feel about him as I felt about Cherrington. The RS needed to clean house and bring in the fresh eye.
  20. Surely you are giving Cherrington more credit than he deserves and more power than he has, if you think that is what he WILL do.
  21. The Cards were amazing last year...but this year-- with their long time mamager and their big money player gone--I never thought they had a chance for anything.
  22. We can't even blame Cher for this fixation with JF, although supposedly they get along well. The ownership level is the one that put this together with compensation being left to Cher and the Jays GM ( as says Cafardo this morning in the GLOBE
  23. I caught the problem for several hours this morning
  24. I think Beckett and Lackey were having their childish moments before BV arrived. Cher is telling us in the GLOBE about how well Lackey is doing with his rehab. God, I hope that means they are looking to trade him...I dislike that SOB
  25. I got the one this morning when I was trying to get on the site. I left, went somewhere else and a minute or two later it went right through. I never get them once I get on
