  1. BOSTON GLOBE says he is looking around Ranger land
  2. Why? Would could they tell us ? The Manny of late is the RS and Dodgers Manny.
  3. I don't think baseball is anymore important to him than any other sport that can earn him money. The Red Sox is just one more financial asset...any importance would be in Fenway's 100th and then it is nothing special. So he will continue to seek more money because that is how he is wired.
  4. Well.....NOW we agree on something
  5. If your issue with Youk is his comments about Ellsbury/wekaness, I think Pedroia was right out there too. I was being sarcastic about getting rid of the $14,000,000 Dh....what a waste that is.
  6. You said that he continued to hit when I said he sucked, like hitting was the only area he was being judged in. If he continued to hit then, why did they get rid of him.....??? Because he was a cancer in the club house. I do not agree that he would be welcomed with open arms and cheered as long as hit. His fielding became a joke so if you want him to hit, maybe they could get rid of the $14,000,000 Dh and bring in Manny for pennies on the dollar?? Youk may have a bad attitude and I am not agreeing or disagreeing but nobody ever said he infected/affected the clubhouse.
  7. My point is that he sucked as a human being and a team mate and if he didn't, the FO would not have straight armed him out of town. Maybe everybody else isn't a saint, but Manny disappointed Boston and LA. If he comes back with a different attitude, bring him back???......yea, like how long with the new and glorious Manny going to last, about as long as he did in LA???
  8. He sucked as a human being and team mate
  9. I am not big on reruns. Manny did his thing here, helped for a while and then sucked. There is no need to bring him back. If some other team wants to put in a MANNYWOOD, then good luck to them for as long as the good lasts. We know, as do the Dodgers, that the good does not last.
  10. I don't know. Why would they not? and I don't know that one either . It was just a discussion point.
  11. Wow...I didn't see that one coming, I figured he had the best of all possible jobs and was in line for Bud's job
  12. I think holding on to the RS was a goal through the 100th year of Fenway.....huge money was put into the team so that the RS may have gotten the WS rings for the 2010 season to complete the celebration. Now I wonder if keeping below the Luxury tax is important in order to make the team more sellable. These guys has owned teams previously and then moved on....why would the RS be any different for them?
  13. I always enjoyed watching CC play in TB and I have never questioned his character, but maybe his intellect. If he made this decision on his own, then he needs to look toward his manager/agent for some guidance on the guidelines of interacting with people.
  14. To return to the topic at hand.....if BV's words were so egregious, then the Players Association would be concerned about making Beckett and CC feel bad and would publicly chastize BV for this behavior. They weren't so they didn't. ( figure out your own antecedents for the pronouns)
  15. BV's "handling" of the two mentioned has nothing to do with the fan perception of both of these guys...they both were in the news prior to V's arrival. The garbage about the chicken and beer surfaced long before he arrived.....and Beckett was the only pitcher who didn't come forward to talk about it ( not counting Lackey who should never show his face in New England...any part of it again). Fans were not crazy about that. I liked CC in Tampa Bay and the fact that he totally sucked in Boston was not a good thing...and the fans were not thrilled with his lack of production. Again...the two guys who already were in hot water with the fans were the two guys who were not responsive to their new boss's overtures. If they did respond to him in the most minimal fashion as anybody who ever worked knows you HAVE TO DO SO with your boss, then BV would have had nothing to say
  16. I was never a BV fan and was amazed when the media began to kick around his name as a potential manager.....evern more amazed when it happened. BUT....the front office knew what they were getting as far as his "big mouth", accepted the BV that you knew was coming in and apparently welcomed it. If they did not want the team problems/issues hung out there in public, it would not have happened. It did happen.... repeatedly so I have to think the big boys were not in agreement with the shield of silence of Francona once it resulted in what was the end of his era.
  17. BV contacted all the players...common courtesy. The two that did not return his communication within a "normal" time frame are the two guys who already screwed up big time ---Beckett / beer and CC in dropping that catch that kepot the Sox out of the playoffs. Interesting.
  18. I have no problem with V. and his talking. I am thinking that the media will do a number of Beckett next year at ST. He screws up this bad, never says a word about it in the last few months unlike a couple of the other pitchers, gives V. crap for saying that he pitches too slow when V. does reach out to him. Oh yea....the Boston media will be looking for Beckett stew. And speaking of talkers......the new GM never lets ten words do when he can say 100. That man can fill an entire column with his answer to two questions.
