What is so dificult to understand? People want action. Ben said that he would hit the ground running after the WS and so far nothing. Granted, under normal circumstances ( not coming in last ), the RS fan base would be more patient...not this year. After suffering through several "bridge" years that ended up going nowhere under the most over rated GM in baseball, the fan base is disgusted. We also are concerned that Ben was an underling to the MORGMIB so what did he learn?

Nick should have kept to his GLOBE story rather than singing a different tune while he tweeted. a few hlours later.....so what was with that. Not looking good if you "read stuff" now man.

Now you are talking through your ass. The one year difference is not a "modest" gap. They may be working on it like little beavers. They may be praying to the gods that David will return to the RS family. They may have put all other positions on hold until they sign him......but come on, 1 or 2 years has been a point of contention for DO for some time now.

Morning GLOBE is where I got my story. The "modest" gap may be money. Is the difference between one year or two years a "modest" time gap??

Nick C. in the GLOBE finally comes clean that they are not close and unless things speed up soon, DO will be on the open market. He does admit though that the RS seem to be his best bet....so apparently Nick doesn't see much of a big money market for him

HMMM.... He didn't give them value for their money in 2012....came to the game unprepared "physically and mentally".

In 2008 he may have been 3rd in MVP...so they paid him for a long conract based on that play. He did not hold up.

What is holding up the deal is that no where has the FO indicated they want him for two years with that injury

It was "announced" hours after introducing John F. I am guessing it came from the Ortiz camp rather than the RS front office...perhaps his agent wanted to get it out so there would be a big swell of fan support for keeping DO. To me the concern in signing him is not knowing how that injury is.
