  1. Janky ass = new one on me.
  2. No worries, our standards are low here.
  3. $15 mill AAV is pretty sweet.
  4. I'm thinking it's the offseason of delayed gratification...sure hope the gratification shows up.
  5. Mets are reportedly close to a deal with Hand. Guess it ain't him...
  6. Reports are the Yanks are close to bringing back DJL.
  7. You're right. It's after-the-fact labeling.
  8. FWIW I heard the Marlins are out.
  9. One might think that the continued positive reports on Sale and E-Rod would move the Sox in the direction of not punting 2021. I never really thought they would punt it, but doubts do begin to creep in.
  10. From MLBTR: The Red Sox could soon get a good sense of the return timeline for star lefty Chris Sale. Per MassLive’s Chris Cotillo (via Twitter), Sale is expected to throw from a mound at some point in the next two weeks or so — if all goes as planned. It’s promising that he’s already nearing that milestone, having undergone his Tommy John procedure at the end of March of 2020. It is hard to imagine that Sale will be ready for the start of the season, but perhaps he could resume competitive pitching relatively early in the 2021 campaign.
  11. Just to clarify, his actual 2021 salary is $6.6Mil, but the tax hit is $5Mil. It was 2 years for $10Mil, his 2020 salary was $3.4Mil.
  12. Right. But trading Beni for a prospect wouldn't even be an upgrade for this year's team-actually a downgrade in all probability.
  13. It would be shocking if Bloom does nothing before the season but make minor moves like we've seen so far.
  14. It's all fuzzy rumors...but it's all we got right now.
  15. What happened to 'only a tiny % of free agents have signed'?
  16. It certainly sounds like Bloom has multiple offers to consider.
  17. Alex Speier reports that one of the teams interested in Beni has discussed trading 'big league pitching depth' for him.
  18. Yeah, I have heard that some guys do this. They make sure the charge shows up on the credit card as something totally innocuous, so their wives don't know what they're up to.
  19. I know. That was a rare technical error on your part.
  20. Maybe what happened was, Ben and Larry struck a deal that each one of them got to make one $90 million signing. And to make it even more fun, they didn't tell each other who it was until the day of the announcement.
  21. I have never believed that Sandoval was signed strictly because of his postseason numbers. IIRC, the Giants made an offer to Pablo that was equal to or close to the Red Sox offer. If they had only signed he or Hanley, it would have been forgivable. Signing both was just asking for it. They were both kind of mercurial performers at that point.
  22. We know he bulked up between 18 and 19, supposedly looking to add power. It slowed down his foot speed radically. Appears it messed him up in other ways too.
  23. I wasn't saying it was better, just defending it.
