  1. Now you have to wonder if the new bye system has raised the crapshootification level even higher, based on what happened to the O's, Braves and Dodgers.
  2. JH was doing great until 2019. That was when his thinking started to go sideways.
  3. Especially when the new guys seem to do the job he wanted them to do.
  4. No. It's crazy talk. But it is Talksox, after all.
  5. Much depends on how stupid the bidding gets for Yamamoto. It could get very stupid indeed with many of the big players involved.
  6. harmony's objectivity has been exposed as a sham.
  7. I wasn't happy with this year's payroll budget, but calling 2022 and 2023 a sham seems a little excessive.
  8. notin seems to think the biggest problem with the 2022 and 2023 teams was not doing enough at the deadline. I think when you win 78 games each year it's clear that wasn't the only problem.
  9. Since we ended up with 78 wins this year, was adding a pitcher for 2 months really going to be enough?
  10. LOL what?
  11. Why? Wasn't Ben scapegoated too?
  12. Reductionism at its finest. The Red Sox finished 23 games behind the Orioles. It's absurd to suggest that's not a big gap. Winning 6 out of 10 instead of 5 out of 10 might not seem like a big difference. But when you multiply by 16 it gets big.
  13. Amen to that.
  14. Skepticism is understandable. But I don't think they fired Bloom because they wanted to maintain the status quo.
  15. Battle of Texas coming up. Go Rangers!
  16. It's the message they're sending. I'm buying it until I see differently.
  17. If they act like the Boston Bleeping Red Sox this offseason and sign a couple of good starters I think we'll all be looking at things differently.
  18. Look at the crapshootery going in the playoffs right now, though. The Rangers looked like toast for a while, now they're a threat to win it. The objective just has to be to make the playoffs.
  19. A teardown and rebuild after the things they've been saying (led by Cora)? Not a chance.
  20. I'm betting he was.
  21. The Dodgers' rotation was in bad shape going into the playoffs, but that doesn't explain their offense's futility. Maybe just some excellent pitching and game planning by Arizona.
  22. They're not a total crapshoot, but there's plenty of crapshootiness.
  23. For one year of Soto?
  24. That's the beauty of our horrific finish - we don't have to trouble ourselves about these things, we made sure it all became irrelevant!
