  1. Our issues at shortstop this year had a chain of blame. -You can blame Henry for not shelling out to extend Bogaerts. -Blame Bloom for signing Story with his injury red flag. -Blame Bloom for not signing Andrus or Iglesias when Story went down, leaving Kike as the #1 option. -Blame Cora for playing Kike at shortstop too much. It was a team effort.
  2. Short-term yips, apparently.
  3. Pot calls kettle black! See second post down on this page. https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/20614-A-Realistic-View-of-2023-Part-II?p=1539710&viewfull=1#post1539710
  4. So after Kike went to the Dodgers, he started 8 games at shortstop, and they won 7 of them. Sure is a funny game.
  5. But what are the examples of him playing X over Y when Y was clearly the guy that should have been playing? The only concrete example I've seen is playing Kike over Reyes at SS.
  6. What prospects did DD have left to trade at that point though? Pretty slim pickings I would think.
  7. I think Bloom was the guy who filled the roster with way too many bad options.
  8. I think the other options sucking too had a lot to do with it.
  9. This is getting ridiculous. You really think Cora loved Franchy and Arroyo and was the driving force behind them playing as much as they did?
  10. I don't see where Cora was presented with a lot of good options in these cases. As Max will tell you, we ended up with a better record when Kike played than without him anyway...
  11. You can take your pick of things that the brass could have been mad about, unfortunately. The brass won't ever tell us, that's for sure.
  12. It's really hard to say with Henry anymore. Maybe the reason we didn't spend more than $10 mill on the rotation was that Henry didn't want to spend much on it. And when he saw the results he used Bloom as the scapegoat.
  13. Maybe Bloom really thought he was getting 5 years to play with.
  14. But frankly, you didn't need to be Alex Cora to see that we needed a starting pitcher or two. When do we get to the point that Cora can actually talk JH into spending in that area again? I guess we'll find out real soon.
  15. How's your team doing?
  16. If Bloom spent right up to the amount he was allowed to spend for 2023, I think half the blame for 2023's failure goes to ownership.
  17. We've seen some sub-jabronis - whatever they're called.
  18. It didn't bother the Astros. Like 'em or hate 'em, they come to play.
  19. Epstein A- DD B+ Ben C+ Bloom C-
  20. Some people you just can't reach.
  21. Yes, exactly.
  22. The days off reminded them how tired they were.
  23. The Braves just proved that rest days help. Their bats looked a tick slow.
  24. Well, there isn't any mystery about it. It's not like the new guy is going to be blindsided by the fact that Cora is the manager for 2024.
  25. What, you think Henry would never fire Cora? Henry would fire anyone.
