  1. So why not fire him after 2022?
  2. They've been wrong about so much the last few years, I guess we shouldn't be surprised that they keep being wrong.
  3. It's worse than that, because it appears they weren't really even in on Yamamoto.
  4. There's absolutely no chance they're even considering Snell IMHO.
  5. FWIW I read a story about Henry and DD being overheard in a heated argument about the Sale extension. No doubt there were some differences in thinking going on. Henry was probably looking for any excuse to fire DD after that.
  6. Spending is all relative. Spotrac says the Sox were #13 in payroll for 2023. But they're #3 in team market value and gross revenue.
  7. Easy was signing cheaper free agents.
  8. AFAIK, the only reported offers are the Dodgers, Mets and Yanks. The 3 that were actually serious. There's absolute zero info on the Sox. Not even sure they made a formal offer.
  9. I didn't see that exact quote, but his actions certainly don't belie it.
  10. How am I mind reading? You thought the Sox were going all in on Moto. Isn't it pretty obvious they were not players at all?
  11. Bloom had a long-term plan too. Henry doesn't want to spend, but he has no patience either.
  12. The Sox proprietary Team Building Analytics keeps cranking out the message that starting pitching is too expensive and is best to be avoided...
  13. Me too, but the speculation is that the Sox aren't in on him.
  14. No, they haven't, actually, if you take the time to go through the list. It's a mixed bag.
  15. Let's be clear, nobody was "excited" about Lugo. But he did have a 2.8 fWAR this year, higher than anyone on the Sox staff. The real point is they are not in on any of the big names either. Their "involvement" on Moto was a f'king joke. That should tell us where this front office's head is - still up their asses.
  16. Yes, he's older, and he only signed for 3 years. Seems like the kind of deal that would appeal to the Sox. But no.
  17. MLBTR predicted 6 and 150 for Montgomery. No idea where the 105 came from.
  18. They only use present value when there are significant deferrals.
  19. Gray has been significantly inferior to Montgomery on which planet? And part of the issue is that they're not in on Monty either.
  20. Aha, but the present value has been calculated at "only" 460 million and the AAV at 46 million.
  21. Most of us were in agreement on who the top 6 free agent starting pitchers were. At this point it appears the Red Sox were not seriously in on any of them. That's fairly incredible IMHO.
  22. That's nice, but in the real world Lugo was #19 on MLBTR's list of all free agents.
  23. And the speculation seems to be that the Sox aren't really in on Montgomery. Which is disturbing if true.
  24. They were over on Gray in total dollars (4/90). They were virtually bang on on ERod (4/82). They were virtually bang on on Lugo (3/42). Which supports my theory that the Sox missed the boat on the reasonable ones. Now they're left with Montgomery at an inflated price.
  25. That's what Alex Speier speculated. Seems like a solid theory.
