My problem with that is...they already have the damn payroll room if they're serious about adding a quality SP'er.
-
I too find it a little strange how eager some folks are to trade him right now. At the deadline if we're out of it, that's a different story.
-
Good thing Kimmi isn't here any more, I guess.
-
Everyone should stop talking about Bauer period. It's too political.
-
Yep, another classic line from Tom. There should have been a laugh track with that one.
-
Werner must have forgotten about all the empty seats at Fenway for that meaningless Yankee Series in September-right before they fired Bloom. Dude has a really short memory all of a sudden.
-
If they're not going to sign Montgomery or Snell, might as well just go with what we've got and the Andrew Bailey Magic Show...
-
We're really talking about the dregs here.
-
Sorry Red, this is a misunderstanding. I agree with your take on the CBO search. It made Sham's big talk look foolish. I wasn't questioning the number 10. mvp was asking for names, and those were the 4 I could think of.
-
I've got 4: Click Gomes Ng Internal candidate-can't remember which one
-
Agree 100%.
-
Boston is kind of a Puritanical place, too.
-
C'mon man, you know one of the biggest reasons they're keeping payroll down is so they can reduce ticket prices eventually.
-
"Exhausted search" is perfect.
-
There's been absolutely nothing since the little flurry of signing Giolito and trading Sale.
-
We're in the BroomSlow Era.
-
I agree in baseball terms, but I don't think the Sox need another PR disaster right now.
-
I think it might be shades of pre-2018 offseason when Boras's opening ask for JDM was $210 million and he got $110 mill instead. Rumor is Snell looking for $240 mill. Not likely.
-
Of course you would think that way. You cheer for the owners' wallets.
-
One thing I didn't realize is that Bellinger and M Chapman are both Boras clients along with Snell and Monty. Scott is outdoing himself this year.
-
There are whispers out there that the Sox are still in on Montgomery. Unfortunately there are much louder voices saying there's no chance of us actually signing him because he's too expensive.
-
If they fail to add a legit starting pitcher, somebody in that front office (my vote goes to Sham), needs to be publicly horsewhipped. The Sox can sell tickets to it and livestream it and make some money off it, so it'll be a win-win for everyone.
-
Excellent.
-
Looks like Andrew Bailey is being called on to bail out the front office for their failure to actually improve the rotation.
-
Part of Bailey's job description is to be immensely optimist at this stage, I would submit.
