  1. Oh well, where there's Scott Kazmir there's hope.
  2. Ortiz's big home run years were at age 28, 29, 30. His HR production tapered off at age 31 and hasn't returned to those high levels.
  3. Ortiz's big slump year was 2009, and he still ended up with 28 HR and a .462 SLG.
  4. Guess away. You still just have the one fact.
  5. I'd say even better than mid-rotation. Fister had an ERA+ of 128 with Detroit. That's at least a #2 on most teams.
  6. That's true, but Jose comes out as a loser regardless. While 'Vindicated', he was ultimately seen as a self-centred prick who ratted out people for money, and was still the consummate juice-enhanced cartoon baseball player. Then he continued to show he was a loser with his messed-up 'career' and personal life.
  7. Wha...what?
  8. It's only early, but the Atlantic Division looks like it might be a contender for the worst division in pro sports history. It's not too often that a 6-10 record will get you first place in a 5-team division.
  9. Not a miracle he got paid for 2012. 2013, maybe so.
  10. There isn't a Sox fan alive who wouldn't like him back. It's just that we're all so educated now in the realities of big contracts, and Ellsbury's next contract looks like one of those that is likely to be an albatross.
  11. He was on the 2003 list. That's it in the fact department.
  12. It'd take a baseball miracle now for Bard to make it back. I'd certainly like to see it, but it's pretty doubtful to say the least.
  13. Average salaries may keep growing a bit more, but I think it's possible that high end salaries have reached their peak. A-Rod got that 10 year 252 million contract from Texas before the 2001 season, and 25 million a year is still pretty close to the top salary.
  14. But what we've established is that, per Cafardo, the option travels with the contract.
  15. What problem would that circumvent? As I understand it, exercising the option early would have no effect on the AAV. So you wouldn't accomplish anything by doing this.
  16. It seems to say the option does transfer.
  17. Where does that info come from UN?
  18. Note: mid-point between Yankees rumored offer of 168 and Cano's rumored offer of 252 = 210.
  19. Buster Olney reports that Cano has asked the Yankees for 9 * 28 = 252. Plus a vesting option for a 10th year thrown in for good measure LOL
  20. This is way over the line man.
  21. Man if I did something like that with some of my avid baseball fan friends, a few would be calling me a complete ******* when they found out it was BS.
  22. You're quite the merry prankster mark.
  23. This is something that's been overlooked a bit - this was a classic contract-motivated season for Ellsbury - he even played hurt some at the end of the year - which was kind of unprecedented.
  24. Compare Ortiz's numbers for his age 26-30 years to Cano's for age 26-30. Not close at all.
  25. It's career. All we know is that Ortiz had a positive test for something in 2003. Anything else is rumor. There have been rumors about Cano too.
