  1. I guess because he's our only major pitching prospect above the age of 17.
  2. moon did say 'sporadic' personal observation - which could mean one or two games in a season.
  3. I can see possibly re-evaluating Mookie's spot in the order next year with no Papi.
  4. I respect the stat dig. But if you look further, he has an .877 career OPS with a runner at first base only, so that would seem to make him a good candidate for batting second.
  5. BTW I'll argue with you all day every day about Theo, but I do have to respect your point of view about baseball executives, because you're 100% consistent about it.
  6. Yeah, Ortiz has been grounding into too many DP's too. Let's move 'em both down to the bottom of the order.
  7. Team ERA is 4.43, 4th worst in the league. But team runs allowed per game is 4.84, 2nd worst in the league. We seem to have given up the most unearned runs as well. Bottom line, our run prevention is a disaster.
  8. Theo Epstein = 2 Red Sox championships Curt Schilling = 2 Red Sox championships I like them both. I like guys who help the Red Sox win championships and I stay loyal to them.
  9. 'Leaving the starter in too long' is a by-product of the modern game where starters only average 6 innings at best, and bullpens are left to cover a pile of innings. All managers do it because a) middle relievers are usually s*****; and if you use the quick hook every time you'll burn the living s*** out of your bullpen. Tito was also accused of doing this far too often by many. Last night Showalter didn't pull Tillman until the end of the 5th with his team losing 6-0. He let Tillman get the last out in the 5th after he'd given up 6 runs, so it could have been more. I'm quite neutral about Farrell now. I feel a little bad for him because he seems to be trying everything with the pitching but the pitchers keep throwing up on themselves. But if replacing him with Lovullo makes the team play better I'm all for it. It's your call, Henry & Dombrowski.
  10. We've now lost 8 games in which we scored 7 or more runs.
  11. You saw the look that Verlander gave Iggy last night on that toss to first that would have been a double play. Verlander didn't say anything or go all Lackey on him, but it was a long, WTF stare of disbelief that Iggy didn't make the play.
  12. Coming into this game we've lost 7 games where we scored 7 or more runs.
  13. I'm quite happy with Mookie being the guy who leads the team in plate appearances.
  14. Outscore them by a significant margin please.
  15. The ideal leadoff hitter is considered to have both power and speed. Mookie fits the bill.
  16. Couldn't really expect a career backup guy like Ross to play every postseason game (potentially 19 games) though, I don't think.
  17. This debate is popcorn-worthy.
  18. Surely we can score some runs off Pelfrey.
  19. If you hadn't thrown in the part about Felix blowing out his arm I would have said yes.
  20. No, I know you are a Tito guy.
  21. And we won in 2004 and 2007 in spite of Tito, in the eyes of many.
  22. Who got hurt by the gorilla suit? It was an in-house dispute that went a little too public, that's all. And it got fixed. Much worse stuff has happened in other orgs. In Boston everything gets blown up into a major scandal. IMHO as always.
