  1. The Curse of Dr. Bill Morgan lives on.
  2. Not only that, but maybe trading Buch on the assumption these 2 were good to go wasn't such a great idea.
  3. No doubt he does cringe. Fortunately he can be consoled by the fact that his franchise has made him a ton of money in spite of such losses. And fortunately for us he's still willing to spend right up to the tax threshold even with Castillo and Craig on top of that.
  4. Kimmi, my post where I tried to explain my philosophy was in response to this statement by moon: I could be wrong, but I have gotten a very distinct impression that some posters do not feel much concern about the difficulties that are ahead of us. I assumed that I was one of the people he was talking about and I wanted to clarify my position. I'm not unaware of the potential problems ahead, and if I seem unconcerned it's only because I'm choosing to accept that it's an organizational direction and I can't do much but accept it. I get where you and moon are coming from 100%. Like I say I was basically just trying to state my own position. You're probably right that the 'worrying' vs. 'complaining' distinction is largely semantics.
  5. Ah yes, the one and only georom. He has popped in here for a couple of very quick appearances.
  6. With specific moves it's generally not worrying, it's complaining about results that are right there in front of you. You can't really say anyone 'worries' about the Pablo signing any more.
  7. I would differentiate them like this: specific moves vs. general organizational philosophy ('win now').
  8. Let me put it this way: if I say I'm not concerned about our future, it's not because I'm not aware of the potential problems, it's because I see no point in being concerned about it. It's just my position.
  9. There is no us. The team's concern is the only concern that matters. We can't do anything. There's no point telling other posters how concerned they should be about the future.
  10. LOL I think you're probably right.
  11. For me it's a philosophical thing. I've become a Zen fan of sorts - I hasten to add that I was only able to do so because of seeing us win it all 3 times. There's not a thing any of us can do about what the team does. I'm fully aware of the possible negative outcomes of some of their moves. But worrying about the future is absolutely pointless suffering.
  12. I'm a big follower of WAR now. I think it's cool to see Betts with a 9.6 WAR sitting second in the AL behind Trout's 10.6. (And you really can't ask for much simpler numbers than those.) Alsop worth noting that the top 4 vote-getters in the AL MVP this year were in the same order as their WAR numbers.
  13. On BDC people would get 'banned', but they couldn't be banned by IP address so they would just set up again under a different name. Some even had multiple names. That's where the guessing games came in. It was ridiculous.
  14. I consider myself a stat geek, but not a hardcore one. I consider Kimmi a hardcore stat geek. I'm a softcore stat geek, I guess.
  15. I still believe it too. Well, to be more precise, I still don't think going out in bitter cold with wet hair is a great idea.
  16. LOL 700hitter was a tax attorney and lawyers really like the word 'specious', but I can guarantee you he's not Softlaw. Softlaw lived somewhere in the Carolinas, I think. I believe his real name was Chet, he once sent me a link to a blog he was writing, which I ignored.
  17. Can I refer to David Ortiz and Curt Schilling not as clutch but as 'postseason heroes' then?
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you express concern in a number of posts about Sale being a clubhouse diva and that sort of thing?
  19. That was S5Dewey. You have to take it up with him.
  20. I don't believe those who don't are operating with an agenda. I just like arguing with them.
  21. Changes are coming. It's not us they're worried about losing, it's the younger generation raised on internet and smartphones.
  22. You could be right. They're obviously very concerned they're losing their audience.
