    The early returns for these two are not very impressive.

    I really don't think the sabre-slugs say the 3 OF positions are interchangeable. In fact you see wide variances in defensive ratings for guys who play more than one OF position.

    Even if that happens, he should equal Machado's deal and be ahead by 100 million.

    A relatively small point, but Sale's AAV is actually 25.6 million, because of deferred money. It appears that one of the new provisions in the current CBA was a change in calculation of AAV when there is deferred money.

    In a save situation Barnes has generally pitched either the 8th or the 9th depending on when the other team's best hitters were due up.
