  1. Well, let's see: Sale - gone. Price - mystery injuries popping up left, right and center. Eovaldi - missed most of the year and hasn't been great when he's pitched. Porcello - DFA candidate. Cashner, Johnson, whoever else - more s***. Yeah, AC is doing a terrible job managing this stalwart staff.
  2. I didn't mean it to be unfair. I realize that injuries were part of it. Just pointing out what rough shape the group is in.
  3. Yes, Cashner might be a better choice than Porcello going forward. Heavy emphasis on 'might'.
  4. Setting E-Rod aside, when was the last time one of these guys had a Quality Start?
  5. Cashner was even worse than Porcello as a starter. He's been good as a reliever. We're talking Russian Roulette here...
  6. You know better. Our replacement for Porcello would be, if not Johnson, Ryan Weber or someone of his ilk.
  7. It's virtually guaranteed that every mega-contract will have issues. There are hardly any players that go out and produce like clockwork and don't get injured, for 8 straight years or whatever it is.
  8. Um, what are you talking about?
  9. You might be the biggest Sox fan in the universe, but you've tossed in the towel. Not everyone has. I think most of the fans going to Fenway this week expect the team to try to win the games until they're mathematically eliminated.
  10. Sometimes guys surpass the early projections & expectations. That's our biggest hope, weak as it may be.
  11. Or the Clarifier, as Denny calls me. In the office I've been called Hawkeye for my proofreading skills.
  12. Yeah, that Manny Ramirez contract absolutely killed us. You do have a point. But let's not forget that some of those contracts do pay off.
  13. Nope. You can't just throw in the towel and start workouts for next year. This is major league baseball and fans are paying huge dollars to watch it. The time for what you're talking about appears to be coming soon but it's not here yet.
  14. Possibly so. But still, it put a man at second with Mookie and Raffy coming up. They just didn't get it done.
  15. Yeah, I figured some people would lay this one on Cora for not hooking Porcello sooner. I mean, why shouldn't he rely totally on our vaunted bullpen, and let them pile up the innings with only 6 more straight days to go against the Twins and Yanks offenses? Right on.
  16. What irks me is the heaping of abuse on the same players who delivered such a fantastic season last year.
  17. To be fair, DD had nothing to do with Porcello's contract (other than trading him to us LOL).
  18. You're still waving the Beni pompoms I see.
  19. Take it easy, Larry. Porcello was a decent value outside of this year. He also contributed strongly in last year's playoff run.
  20. He's not a Trout, but he's better than Machado and Harper. 8 years @ 32.5 mill = 260 mill has to be in the ballpark of his market value.
  21. You mean reset before 2020, right?
  22. It's the way it goes on any sports message board, cp. Most sports fans are the consummate fairweather friends.
  23. How can you say that when our starting rotation is such a shambles, as you have already said yourself many times???
  24. On any given day, any team can beat any team.
  25. He's never spoken ill of you, though, AFAIK.
