    The only thing I can really put forth is that you and I have both been saying that it's our starting pitching that killed us this year, and in those 7 games our starting pitching was dreadful.

    The Guardians schedule isn't really a joke. 6 vs Min 3 vs TB 3 vs Phil 3 vs Wash 7 vs CHW who the Guardians are 5-7 against so far. The Tiggers are the only real joke.

    With the off days we've only needed 4 starters. Price is expected to pitch on Sunday at last report.

    That's one way to look at it but I don't think it's necessarily correct. I would much rather have picks 1 and 31 than picks 30 and 60. It's pretty much the same as having pick 1 instead of pick 60 when you look at it this way.

    The last-place team gets the first pick in each round (setting aside the sandwich rounds after the first round). The first-place team gets the last pick in each round. So the last place team gets picks 1, 31, 61 etc. First place team gets picks 30, 60, 90 etc.

    But Sandoval's 5 million buyout was already counted in 2015-2019 payroll for tax purposes because it was part of the 95 million guaranteed value.

    It doesn't count against the 2020 cap. It was already counted in because it was part of the guaranteed money in the contract.

    Well, we did have Johnson last year. The 2018 version was much more useful, of course.

    When it comes to those starters, we are between the proverbial rock and hard place. You can either hope that Sale, Price and Eovaldi come back to form or you can try to trade them and eat a pile of money in the process. With the latter you also have to replace them. My guess is we hope.

    With boatloads of baserunners. He's been fortunate not to give up more runs in those games.

    Yes, the state of the rotation is the most obvious reason why it's impossible. The strange thing is, our last 3 losses have been mainly the fault of the offense.

    I have no idea what the team is going to do about Mookie. It's almost hard to believe that we're facing the prospect of him being in another team's uniform for the last 8 or 10 years of a likely HOF career, but it's a very real possibility.
