  1. The Dodgers are doing things very well since they swiped Friedman from the Rays, without a doubt. Still, it's all about the championships, and they really need one soon.
  2. The only ones who think Cora should go are card-carrying FOM members.
  3. So just to clarify, you think winning the division is meaningless unless you have the best overall record and home field advantage?
  4. That was taken from an analytical piece by Alex Speier. I don't think it was a leak.
  5. There's a cynical reason to think there won't be a house cleaning. I don't think John Henry likes losing seasons and I don't think he likes pissing off the fans. It's not good for the brand, for the market value of the team.
  6. I don't know if trying to win it all in 2020 is realistic or not. A reset does make sense. But that doesn't mean a fire sale.
  7. Cleaner path to a WS...what does that mean? Last year we won 108 games but had to play the 2 toughest teams to get there.
  8. Some folks really need to calm down. Just because DD is being replaced doesn't mean we're unloading the whole team.
  9. I says why did you start the same thread twice.
  10. Cot's Contracts has us at $242 million. It's hard to figure where Roster Resource gets its luxury tax numbers from. I think Cot's has the right number.
  11. Boras isn't Mookie's agent, thankfully.
  12. Units of measure is slim pickings, methinks.
  13. That was a weird move by Cincy. If you can find somebody stupid like that it certainly helps.
  14. As far as trading him this offseason goes, there might be a pretty limited number of teams interested. Anyone who trades for him gets a great player, but also a very expensive one (probably around 28 million), and they get him for one year only, with every indication that he's not interested in an extension.
  15. The chances of Mookie signing an extension now are close to nonexistent. Did you read his comments in response to DD being fired?
  16. You could say he lacks patience, I guess. But GM's are a lot like players, really. Ideally you want to get the best out of them and then move on. I really believe that's the case here.
  17. Yes, I'm afraid there might be some negativity on the game threads. :D
  18. Does anyone else see the uncanny similarity to the departure of our previous DD, Dan Duquette?
  19. I never said he was elite. Nice try with moving the goalposts.
  20. Yeah, we'll just have to survive somehow. Can't really complain about the 4 rings since '04 though...
  21. In 2018 he had a bWAR of 3.1. Nice try with the innings thing though.
  22. Yep, that's part of the Manfred Missile effect.
  23. Shaughnessy's original article did mention that DD seemed to have become cut off from the organization outside of Larussa and Wren. But also cited Sale and Eovaldi as baseball reasons.
  24. But is that guaranteed? The Orioles are not exactly a model organization these days, but I have to think they had some legitimate reasons for dealing Machado at the deadline instead of in the offseason.
