Buerhle's already marginal stuff is rapidly deteroating. Imagine him pitching half his games at Fenway.
The idea that he should have been brought to the Red sox was bad, and those who had it should feel bad.
iortiz spent the whole off-season repeating over and over how "Buerhle is solid pitcher". Don't look so solid to me.
How does "red numbers in the bl" even mean anyway? They were making money hand over fist, and made the playoffs in 2009. Baseball o.erations doesn't account for tv revenues, and as SoxSport would say: "That's where the money's at".
Also, his "Theo is untouchable" comment borders on the ridiculous. Make sense please.
"Bard would have been fine either starting or closing" but when given a chance, lobbied for starting until they gave him a chance.
"FO's hands were not tied behind their backs when making the Bard decision" but it filled a need and he was lobbying for it.
"It ended up being a mistake" yes, but hindsight is 20/20.
Those are pretty much the main points to the Bard argument.
Trading for Stanton makes little sense from an organizational standpoint. I don't get the propensity for wet dreams for a guy that would take the farm to get and doesn't even address a need.
Clearly against published report from reputable sources. I'll take their word for it.
The reason they went the starter route is because they (like many in the industry) believed Bard lacked the mental makeup to close. You're not better than the Red Sox at evaluating these type of issues, and neither is any poster on a Red Sox website. Don't pretend that you are.
I have no selective memory. No one on this board has you on ignore. For the record, i talk to several people from the site through other means and matters like this are talked about out-of-site or through PM specifically to avoid cluttering the board with discussions like this.
Read YOTN's post above, and you'll see that i'm not pulling this out of my ass. No one here is messing with you anymore, but you're calling them out. That only lends itself to create shitstorms.
This very much overcomplicates the point.
The point: Baseball is a game of streaks, they are currently riding a bad streak. Those two very talented players, if healthy, will hit, and they will hit close to their last-three-years average.
Maybe you could stop fueling the fire with the "malcontents" and since you have them on ignore you could truly ignore them instead of making inflammatory comments Fred?
