  1. And sucks at defense. No redeeming qualities. Can't understand the love affair with the guy.
  2. Young's OBP is BA-fueled, and BA, like BABIP (or because of actually), is flukey. At a league average BABIP of .300, Young's hitting less than Drew because he doesn't walk. He is more durable, but he offers little offensive value and has a -16.6 UZR at 3rd and -1.6 at 1B. Yuck.
  3. Prospects + money for a guy that's barely outhitting Drew? No thanks.
  4. We're talking about next year, and you'd have to actually give up prospects to trade for him. He can barely hit anymore and can't catch the baseball either. Why is he an option people are talking about again?
  5. I wanted to comment on his post, but i honestly couldn't read it. jung, i like you as a poster, but you really need to make your posts a bit more concise so we can figure out exactly what you're trying to say. No disrespect meant.
  6. ^This. Why waste money on a guy who's clearly declining when you've got better in-house options? That's like selling your car to buy a shittier model that's actually more expensive.
  7. Young would fill no hole for the Red Sox, because he's not very good anymore. He can still hit for average, but his power is all but gone. Not what you want out of a corner IF unless he plays GG defense, which Young also doesn't do.
  8. Meh numbers for a corner OF. Other than a decent OBP, he's nothing to write home about.
  9. If you're league average in a bunch of things, you're just a league average player. If you're consistently bad, are you balanced but bad?
  10. Markakis is not "balanced", he's average at almost everything, which is mediocre. Choo is better in every aspect.
  11. Also, since we're talking about "Matt Holliday" type bats: Choo average season: .289/.387/.466 .853 OPS 20 HR, 38 2B, 20 SB Holliday average season: .310 /.385/.531 .915 OPS 28 HR, 42 2B, 12 SB If you compare their numbers since Holliday stopped playing in Coors, they're significantly closer. I don't understand how you're asking for a Holliday type bat, then saying you don't like one of the guys in the league who has the most similar numbers to him with better defense and very little home/road splits. Choo's only problem is his production against lefties and, unlike Carl Crawford, he's actually slightly improved in that department over the last few seasons.
  12. Comparing Kalish to Matt Holliday in even a best-case scenario projection is ridiculous. Also, why should they stay away from Choo other than money? His skillset is excellent.
  13. That doesn't change the fact that one start will not affect his trade value, which is the topic of contention here.
  14. It's one start dude.
  15. I would not be uncomfortable with the Sox going to 6/90 for Ellsbury, but there's a very significant chance he makes at least 30 million more over that same timespan.
  16. Sorry, i was too busy making an actual organized list with numbers for reference.
  17. Not four, five. #2 Xander Bogaerts #38 Jackie Bradley #45 Garin Cecchini #49 Anthony Ranaudo #50 Henry Owens.
  18. As repulsive as it is to say it, ^this. It's common sense.
  19. How do you know Buchholz is "refusing to pitch". For all we know, they could be (and probably are) holding him back until he's 100%, as they should. Stop making s*** up.
  20. The problem with 2008 Beckett was throwing him out there before he was ready because of the playoff push. Now you are complaining about the Red Sox not wanting a repeat of 2008 Beckett. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Let him take all the time he needs as long as he's 100% come crunch time. Because he's fragile they gotta take extra precautions, which is the logical course of action. All of this ranting is unnecessary.
  21. He said that he's not 100%, but would pitch in an elimination game if need. Remember Beckett in 2008? That's probably what we're talking about, and it limited him to the point where he was a shell of himself. You don't know exactly what's wrong with Buchholz jung, and most of your opinion is based on guesswork and inference.
  22. MWP will be on his best behavior the first season, just like he was with the Lakers, when his faux pas count was rather insignificant, even by Laker standards.
  23. Oblique injuries. I remember someone telling me "it can't hurt that bad". Ummmm, yes it can. You can't even take a deep breath without it hurting.
  24. Yeah it's pretty easy to call an injured player a wimp from the comfort of your couch there jung.
  25. I wanted to, but i gave you a chance. VA is ruthless though.
