  1. But this is exactly what he is, but that's not a top-of-the-rotation pitcher. We all agree, we're just arguing semantics.
  2. Sorry, I have to worry about Trump too. If he won and kept his promises, that's a whole lot of Dominicans coming back here that we'd rather you kept.
  3. I laughed so hard.
  4. I think the real problem was signing two 3B's. They could have corrected the Lester mistake by signing another pitcher (and they had options) in this FA market.
  5. Larry Lucchino. He admitted himself he was the driving force behind the Crawford deal. Gonzalez and his diminishing power after the shoulder injury is all Theo.
  6. And who lnows? Maybe they can still get something out of him, but I agree he looks like a deer in headlights out there.
  7. Even without accounting for other crappy contracts, Hanley's deal (counting less years but at a higher AAV) is not obscene.
  8. No, it's a figure of speech. I'm saying Trump supporters ignore facts, not that you're a Trump supporter. Being Mexican, I would be appalled if you were a Trump supporter. And you're clearly ignoring the fact that a significant part of Shields' value comes from playing in good ballparks and in front of elite defenses. But no one's saying he's not good, but he's not a top of the rotation pitcher anymore. You can scream that he is until you're blue in the face, but he's not. You didn't say it in your prior post, that's why he made the joke at your expense. It's meant to be funny.
  9. Ugh. Crawford.
  10. True, but the Porcello extension, the Hanley contract and Castilo's (although Jacko miraculously makes valid points) could be salvageable. In the end, they were not going to pay for pitchers prior to Price either way. That's why Lester is not here anymore. If Henry really wanted to keep him, he would be here. And money's not really an object for guys like Scherzer IF they wanted to get them. But they didn't.
  11. In the current market (and that's the big caveat) if he can put up a high 800's OPS and play a good 1B, it's a defensible contract.
  12. I'm too busy riding the Rivera Highway.
  13. That's a valid argument, and one I've made many times myself. However, there's a major investment made in Castillo and significant roster implications to moving Holt to a nearly everyday gig in LF. It's not a black and white issue. I actually think playing Murphy (I think they could still add him) is a better idea than moving Holt out of his super-sub job. The production would be similar either ways.
  14. Did jung actually take over your body when writing that post?
  15. A+ post. I had not opined on the Castillo issue, but that's exactly what I think. Could not have said it better myself.
  16. That.....is a very good point actually.
  17. jung really really really really needs to stop making s*** up.
  18. The best defenses in the league for the most part, but iortiz will never let facts get in the way of a good argument. Kind of like a Trump supporter.
  19. The GM was Theo Epstein, the manager Terry Francona. Remember that most of the criticism is directed at the Cherington/Farrell tandem. Unfairly to Cherington for the most part, but Farrell is a whole other ballgame.
  20. This.....is actually a very fair point. The problem (in Spudboy's case) is that his argument isn't about Kelly himself, but rather Farrell's penchant to paint a peachy picture when a guy gets hammered (being ST or regular season). In the regular season, it's a fair gripe, in ST, it's just picking at nits. Also, saying Francona didn't do it is wearing rose colored hindsight glasses. He did it. Just not as much as Farrell.
  21. For the record, Hanley and Porcello could wind up being worth their contract (Porcello's extension hasn't even started yet). Castillo and Panda would take a miracle, but we've seen guys struggle and come back before.
  22. Saying "we could have had x and x" in Ted's case is just unfair criticism on Cherington, is what I'm saying.
  23. It's not him. This is Dombrowski's MO. He has that reputation as a young-player trader, but he gives zero f***s about kicking out a veteran for a promising prospect/young player. And he's also not afraid to pull the trigger on a productive but redundant veteran for younger players.
  24. 5'7? Jesus Christ, time flies.
  25. Two of the three at most. And if they re-sign Lester, I doubt either Price or Scherzer ends up here anyways. Let's be realistic plz.
