  1. LOL. From the RHH side
  2. Fister out of the game.
  3. I actually like that Andy's back. Here in nyc, it's "Pettite Day" on the airwaves all day. If it ignites the ol' rivalry, it's all good.
  4. OK, OK, OK. I fully fess up to having a colossal brain fart a few days ago. All this time I was confusing Ciracio with the Xander Bogaerts kid. Scratch my ridiculous suggestion. Correction: Ciracio is a AAA lifer.
  5. The season boils down to this, imo. There's no downside with Ciriaco from any angle, really. I think he goes to Pawtucket, and if he continues this good stuff he is either: a good bet to step up to the big club later. OR He could be valuable trade bait if our bag of retreads in the rotation flop.
  6. OK. So we settled the Ortiz issue, but we don't have a SS (well, I do hope of our options Aviles will be the one who'll come closest to Scutaro's numbers, but the glove is not so good) and no insurance at #4 SP if Bard goes south.
  7. If there is any truth to this... To: Red Sox Players Read your CONTRACT that stipulates you are being paid MILLIONS to do a JOB. Your contract makes you an EMPLOYEE of the Red Sox. It's like asking a bunch of pre-schoolers who drove their teacher insane by destrying the classroom and then wanting to pick the substitute. I don't care if an organ grinder's monkey is managing the team, you are being PAID TO DO A JOB. This ain't the teenage days of summer.
  8. And who said the team won't be competitive next season? The game will be in the FO. The need to turn all 37,000 Fenway seats to face the management boxes.
  9. The 2 nice things: on Aviles' resume: 1. He DID hit over .300 in the 2 seasons he had over 400 ABs 2. He doesn't K very much, a contact hitter. At worst, he'd be a good hitting back up infielder. At best, and this is a stretch, he could project as a Bill Mueller type....
  10. Larry Looch is running the show. Ben is a lame duck. That's my take. And the delays have a lot to do with his fear of Bobby V overshadowing him.
  11. Agreed on the BBs. Although he doesn't make me jump and down, its not like I'd be more excited by anyone else out there except for maybe Madson.....
  12. Forsyth's next announcement comes Monday when he reveals that WakeFLOOD has been secretly working on his arsenal and will show the world his 92 mph cutter, Rivera style.
  13. Gammons and Merloni were joining the growing chorus that Bard should be a starter...i don't know where i stand on this...it could be grand experiment that fails, and then will he ever be able to at least be a set up guy again?
  14. I'm intrigued now, too. Did that really happen?! Gotta find that episode!
  15. Pagan is suited for 4th OFer roles. He IS an improvement over Darnell. Plus, he can hit leadoff and in the 2 hole when needed. I've casually watched the Mets over the years since i live in NYC. He's one of those guys you see the potential in spurts and then sputters. It all depends on the price.
  16. jung - you are very astute on both counts, RF and LF. I remember as a kid how wacky LF was. It looked like side of a rusting shipping tanker.
  17. Not my speculation, but back in August there was chatter here in NYC that the OTHER Santana, as in Johan, and David Wright would be part of a deal involving Youk and Lackey. The Mets are losing money like sieve, but Lackey's TJ surgery just threw that out the window.
  18. Ah well, he's in the past now. I think we've gotten a lot of mileage at his expense. I'm sure he'll be fine with his total career earnings, if he has smart money managers.
  19. LACKEY
  20. Drew basicaly played out the string listening to Boras about OBP and how that would inflate his salary options once he became an FA. Somewhere along the line, likely last year, Drew realized he was not going to get signed for much if at all by anyone for 2012.
  21. Bogar must have secret videos of beer pong in the clubhouse; kept all the delivery receipts for the fired chicken; and stashed away a vial of Ortiz's "eye drops." He has leverage.
