  1. That violate the 1st amendment and would be (wait for it) cheating.
  2. That is why the Commissioner sent the memo.
  3. Cheating! Violated Commissioner's memo.
  4. Don't know. There was an article yesterday saying that ESPN was considering replacing her with Come but other than that nothing.
  5. BTW I can find no announcement anywhere that ESPN has actually fired Mendoza. The only thing that I have found is that they are considering replacing her with David Cone.
  6. The reporting I've seen indicated that ESPN was looking to replace her long before this whole affair started.
  7. It isn't just the A-Rod crowd. ESPN broadcast the game when Porcello threw an immaculate inning. Eduardo Perez was so busy talking about some party he was at that they never mentioned Porcello's immaculate inning until the next inning with "Oh by the way......"
  8. Watching with the sound off only works when they actually show the action on the field. Half the time the images on the screen aren't of anyone actually playing the game.
  9. ESPN needs to revamp their baseball broadcast regardless of what Mendoza said. The broadcast is unwatchable. Mendoza is merely the worst of the lot Matt Vastersian has to be the worst play by play guy since Bob Gamere
  10. To your last point, I think it is highly probable that Red Sox FO people have had some contact with the commissioner's office so I suspect Henry had some basis for such a fear.
  11. The more I think about it I am convinced that Commissioner didn't take action against Beltran was because he probably knew or had a very good idea that what happened was going to happen namely that the Mets and Beltran were going to part company.
  12. What is your problem? The question was could the commissioner discipline a person whose offense was committed while associated with another team. I gave the examples of gambling to point out the obvious that he could. I just cited Beltran to show that behavior does carry over. What The Mets or Red Sox did was never the issue. The question was regarding what the commissioner can and can not do. Under the best interests of baseball clause he clearly has the authority to place an individual on the restricted list whether that individual is with the team that the offense occurred or not.
  13. They would probably lose since Cora and Beltran left by mutual agreement with their respective clubs.
  14. Of course it is relevant, if some players or other involve in management gamble on baseball when members of a previous team and are now with a subsequent team of course the commissioner can suspend or ban. They are placed on the restricted list.
  15. I would hire Lowell in a nano second under those conditions.
  16. Suppose a player, coach or manager gambled on baseball while a member of another team,. I think we all know the answer to that question. The Commissioner's authority to take action in the best interest of baseball is pretty widespread.
  17. Absolutely he could have been. Look the Mets fired Beltran who never managed or coached a game.
  18. Several years ago we attended a ballgame in Seattle which was a surreal experience.. The Mariners were playing the Astros. First of all we walked up to the ticket window and got seats about thirty rows behind home plate for 42 dollars per. Secondly the vendors didn't shout out beer or soda but held up little signs. Got the biggest kick out of the young lady holding up a corn dog sign. Finally we heard more cheering at a golf tournament. Seattle won beating the champion Astros but the fans never seemed that excited about it.
  19. Wishful thinking.
  20. While I will be thrilled if JD is proven correct, I know it ain't over until the fat lady sings. And JD Martinez ain't any fat lady and he certainly is not an unbiased observer in this whole affair.
  21. I think it is simply a case.of putting first things first. Spring Training is literally just around the corner. Remember what a FUBAR last year's spring training was. It is super important for this team to have a good start. There is a lot of stuff a manager has to do during ST. They need to have somebody on board by the end of the month.
  22. My point was that whatever he was doing before the scandal is on the backburner. Now he should be solely focused on replacing Cora.
  23. Who is to say that he wasn't trying?
  24. It is a question of priorities
